We got lucky and we assumed he was going to come back during the holidays so we picked our games for the Maple Leafs and the senators after Christmas. Only thing I really remember traveling was we left Colorado on Christmas Day and I never saw Denver international Airport so empty. That first game was nuts it was standing room only for the warm-up!

Those one-timers Lemieux is shooting in practice look so effortless. He had a underrated slap shot.

Good Lord I remember this like it was yesterday! My newlywed wife and I picked a game we thought would be "THE" game he was coming back. We choose a home game vs Montreal in January(Mario being from PQ) hoping it would be the one. We lived in Philly then (I know yuck) so we couldn't go to every game. We were a couple games too late. I still remember what a buzz there was around the Arena. So much fun, good memories. PS The Pens lost to the lowly Habs that night 4-3.

Lemieux came out of retirement, with a bad back and after cancer, and he still was the best player on the ice. Puts cold ice on the lie that 1980s hockey players aren't as good as players in the modern era. Lemieux was better than Crosby when they played, even though Lemieux was 40 years old and was so injured he couldnt even practice.
