I remember a kid on the bus busting out the first issue of Nintendo Power when i was in 2nd grade. If you weren't a kid in that era, its hard to describe the level of Nintendo-mania in by then. Its hard to think of something that comes close to the way Nintendo dominated the playground zeitgeist by practically being a monopoly in the states. We were reading Nintendo Power, watching Nintendo cartoons, eating Nintendo cereal, had Nintendo calenders, etc. I loved my SNES.... but that era was marked by arguments at school about SNES vs Genesis lol The console war changed gaming culture forever for us kids.

Ocarina of Time being in the top N64 spot of the magazine led me to rent it from Blockbuster. I am now a huge fan.

My favorite decor item was my nintendo power magazine rack. It have 2 slots for magazines and a small one for flyers. Merchandiser gave it to my mom. Lost track of it over the years

I remember as a kid calling the Nintendo power hotline for tips in the NES ages. The reps were pretty awesome to talk to from what I remember. It must of been strange to talk to kids a lot as there was probably not any other service like that where kids talked on the phone like that, but when I later saw some of the news specials for the behind the scenes there, that just made it even more interesting, 80s mullet cuts and all. 😂

A couple years back, I went to a gaming expo in costume as Simon Belmont from Captain N: The Game Master. The guy who was running the Art of Nintendo Power exhibit that collects and displays original paintings and models used for the magazine pulled me aside and had me pose for a picture holding the issue two Dracula mask. That was a great day.

I loved it so much. I think that they could republish the original magazine, in the original order, and all of us millennials would subscribe. I would!
