i think giving away his medal from Helsinky to Ron Clarke was one of the nicest gestures in sports history , yet very few people know about it

Zatopek is a reflection of his contry. West countries left us at the mercy of fascism and communism. We had to find a way where it wasn't. Zatopek found it -on the brink of unnecessary suffering for the whole our nation

0:54 Zatopek did NOT set world records in all three of his races in the 1952 Olympic Games. (He did set Olympic bests for the distances.) 2:01 He ran 100 *repetitions* of 400m--not 100 *races*! Where people come up with this stuff?

lease2coach1 Well that depends on how you define exactly what is said. Zatopek did have world records in all 3 races just not in Helsinki in '52.

I know, how embarrassing. That’s what happens when a running-naive journalist tells the story.
