Remembering one of the men killed with Archbishop Luwum

On February 14, 1977, President Idi Amin announced that a plot to assassinate him and overthrow his government had been uncovered. He claimed that the weapons to be used in the coup had been found at the Kampala home of Archbishop Janani Luwum and near the home of then Bishop Yona Okoth, in Tororo. A number of people were arrested in connection to the coup plot, prominent of whom were Archbishop Luwum and two ministers, Charles Oboth-Ofumbi and Erinayo Wilson Oryema. Three days later, Radio Uganda announced that the trio had been killed in an accident on Ternan Avenue in Nakasero, Kampala. Few people believed the media reports and many assumed that Amin had ordered their execution. GILLIAN NANTUME spoke with Godfrey Oboth-Ofumbi, a son of the late minister, about the events that led to that harrowing time.

If the coup had succeded, what would have been Amin's situation? We can all imagine what wld have been Amin's fate? cos no leader can snatch power from a person like Amin and he stays comfortable in power. You either lock him up, send him to Exile or take his life. So Just see it as a boxing match the loser concedes defeat and the Victor reminisces kind words to the losing opponent. Just forgive each another and move on
