All you angry children condemning Tom Cruise...Kubrick chose him for the role because he is aware of many things that you are clearly not...and the results are clear in the film. His role in the Eyes Wide Shut gives him a pass for life. The biggest difference between you who display an infantile hatred for Cuise and Tom Cruise is this, he is a brilliant leading man in a Kubrick film, and you will never be in a Kubrick film, or any other film for that matter.

@@ten-dimensional Yes, it was crazy. Tom is a pretty intense actor. Kubrick demanded realism. So they had to literally become these parts. Which required them to dip into pain points, sexual and emotional struggles they had as a couple. I'm sure in some cases,filming caused some of these issues they were able to mine from. That's painful. A fully immersed experience like this would make it almost impossible to break character. Kubrick is so focused on details. I think the only director I've heard these types of things about consistently is Fincher. He will do 290 takes if it requires it. Kubrick was the same.

I’ve watched hundreds of these interviews from the archives. I love hearing behind-the-scenes stories. I also like seeing the actors as normal people telling them. This is the one out of all of them that didn’t feel real for even one second of it. It’s hard to describe but the guy is insufferable. Clearly I’m not the only one based on the other comments. Go watch Bill Mumy or Ron Howard tell their story in one of those interviews and you will see what I mean. And I like Tom Cruise and respect his accomplishments. He’s just like that and it’s probably why he has done so well, but it creeps me out.

@trapmomlaydi2 жыл бұрын
It did in fact. It’s not stupid when you have timelines & Parallels. What people don’t understand about “conspiracy theories” is the conspiracy part was made by the media (yes sometimes things are false) but the key is the theory: think my friends: Why would an very highly intelligent director who was KNOWN for movies like this that stuck with people no different from Spielberg to Guillermo & many others - the point is he made this film KNOWING what he was speaking on, doing, & who was involved. He told NO ONE, he involved people he’d known for years down to the point where people didn’t know the ADDRESS. Tom said “it’s worth it”, let’s look at these issues -, come on hes half praising him half angry because he KNOWs what the MEANING meant. K didn’t die BEfore it’s release, he died after he showcased it to the main, they then retracted it and edited out the most important part that would’ve made you realize the reality of everything kind of like your brain clicking. That’s how directors work, they take so much time editing and cutting and re arranging like a producer with music because it’s a story and it has to be told right to make it click

Stanley Kubrick grossly overrated could not direct people chose terrible bad actors and there is so much hype crap about his film techniques ,it could have been a great film if bloody tom cruise had been left out of it !!!!!!!!!!

The Emperor What the hell are you talking about. Cruise was great in the film. And last time I checked, Peter Sellers, Kirk Douglas, Ryan O’Neil, Jack Nicholson and Mathew Modine aren’t “terrible actors”.
