The Oppermans from Texas will always love and miss you Dale Earnhardt Sr your fans forever. As we will always love and miss Dale, we too will always remember the Yarnell Hotshots, the 19 lives lost as well as our own fave Dale Earnhardt Sr, whom we lost on February 18th, 2001. God bless all of them as well as our Dale. Jerry and Sugar Bear and Gloria and Bear. We also keep in our hearts Charles Morton the hotshot who was overtaken by fire and died defending the mountain he loved.Given his life as the result of a gender reveal party.

They were Heroes and I blame no one for the unforeseeable conditions that erupted on that day. I have made several recommendations for reducing the risk and improving the odds of survival in future deployment but they have all been dismissed. I suggested the teams be reduced in Number by using Quads or raptors to carry team members and have equipment on the vehicles to do much of the clearing that men otherwise would do. Men should never take their eyes off the fire but having one person on a ridge and a walkie-talkie would have prevented this occurrence from surprising these men. GPS would have allowed aircraft to precisely pinpoint their position for a water drop and using more durable materials for a shelter shuold have been investigated and made every attempt to improve survivability including carrying small oxygen tanks to breathe till it blows over and through. The Extra weight materials and Equipment being carried by Quads or Raptors for faster ingress and Egress from firey and Dangerous conditions. I pray someone reading this comment will bring this to the attention of the US FFOREST FIGHTING SERVICE to improve and lessen the threat of more deaths like these.

It is a Shame that Prescott has not revived this Hotshot team in recognition of the Granite Mountain Hotshots efforts and the Memory of such Heroes. It is a Much greater disgrace to Prescott that they fought against giving these families Benefits of Survivors after they lost so much in this tragedy fighting to keep the community safe and bringing in revenue into Prescott.

They weren't really needed. Having a hotshot crew from one small city was like having a local police force made up of navy seals.
