These are coming back, I just know that; at some point in my lifetime, when we get tired of the "convenience" and of being scammed online, we will miss the social aspect of them and at some point they will become fashonable again and even maybe luxurious and exclusive and these kind of malls will make a comeback.

Incredible. What a time to be alive. Today, malls are baron wastelands.

People came to malls as the narrator said where people don't want to hurt them...boy that hasn't aged well in the modern times...

Dang, I worked across the street from Woodfield in the 00’s and it amazed me how recognizable it was in this much older video. The ice rink was long gone though. Would shop and eat here almost daily back then for lunch and afterwork lounging before taking the bus home.

We have it much better now, sharing Christmas joy with porch-pirates.

There are still a couple malls around me still open. Maybe because I’m older and not hanging out with high school friends. The mall just seems lonely to me now. 🧔🏼♂️

It is an oddity isn't it? The mall is one of those not frequently talked about core sources of nostalgia. Prince Kuhio Plaza on the big island Hawaii from the late 90s and early 2000s is my personal favorite childhood favorite throughout my entire aloha state.

I practically grew up in Woodfield. I forgot all about the slide and the walk-under waterfall. They had a great fresh pretzel and cookie place back then. Better times for sure.

I need a clip of just 4:29 to 4:38: "If nothing else this is a spacious, well-lit indoor park where someone could wander for several hours just to see some other human beings who will not harm them."

Malls were supposed to become the agora of the modern times.

Humble narrator. A missed attribute in reporting.

I keep seeing people whining about consumerism and whatever, not being actually about 'socializing', and how it's a modern-day problem... Though they're all just terminally online. Nobody's making you buy anything, at least not back when malls started. I don't think those people heard of a street 'bazaar' which is literally the same concept as a mall.

2:49 People felt perfectly fine "parking" their child with a complete stranger for a dollar and a quarter.

You can’t just change the interstitials like that. They have been virtually unchanged since you started making custom ones about 4 years ago. They’re perfect the way they are

you know why we dont have malls, because slave made products ship fast to your door! thanks amazon. We can make a change, stop being lazy, buy pre-owner, purchase local, hand made not slave made, stop buying online

I used an app called Shazam to listen to it and it’s not coming up. I used to do video production and you could buy CDs of generic royalty free music that sounded just like this. Nowadays, I’m sure it’s probably just a download.
