I lived in New York for nine long years. Rude and unpleasant people who tend to treat their fellow men as if they were garbage. However, I reconciled with the United States when the company I worked for transferred me to the city of Dallas. Southern hospitality captivated me. Greetings from Spain 🇪🇦🇪🇺

Yep it's truly sad. All those young men dying in Americas biggest mistake because of bad politics of the time. During the 1920s reunion at Gettysburg both sides actually met and from all accounts were very peaceful towards each other shaking hands and singing songs having a grand old time. After fighting a 4 year war and somehow surviving it I doubt any of them cared about the damn politics. They were just happy to be alive. I wish people could be more decent towards each other even if we have different opinions. I think that's what the soilders of the American Civil War would want us to be about.
@kanscopeichel491 Жыл бұрын
Indeed, but sad so few would even notice what was happening…. You may find this interesting. Cadets from VMI are the only military academy cadets permitted to March with fixed bayonets, because they were the only cadets to fight in any war. About 250 cadets fought in the battle of new market, and about 10 died.

Some history revisionists would have the Confederacy removed from Civil War history so that it would be changed to read, "The Union Army fought another army that were baddies ." Which of course they were not !! The Confederate Army gave their all. They fought hard and with honor ! They deserve their rightful place of honor in American history and in the American heritage.

My ancestors were Southern Unionists, which, to them meant, “we do not desire to see our neighbours in the South mistreated, and, therefore, we are not going to take up arms against them; but on the other hand, we are not going to shoot at the flag of our fathers”, but to everyone else just meant that both sides considered them the enemy. I am concerned we are heading towards a similarly devastating division in our country. So much hate and demonization of each other. I hope the hand of Providence guides us down a path of healing and understanding.

They weren't kicked...they ran out of ammunition and the Union had a steady supply of fresh immigrants coming into their ports daily...who knew nothing about the war. Lee stated the reason for surrender was due to, "overwhelming numbers and resources". Don't think that the Southerners were anything less than rough and tough... and expert marksmen. My 2nd great grandfather was wearing gray at Wilson's Creek and they kicked yankee ass all over those hills. .Given the state of this nation today...I'm positive if the yanks could see what it would become in 150 years....they'd be wearing gray too.

To be authentic about 25% of those soldier's shouldn't have worn boots or shoes. Stonewall Jackson marched his men 20 miles a day except Sunday during training. The night before Chancellorsville Jackson marched his men about 20 miles at night around the West Flank I believe of the Union Army then spread a attack line of two miles. Then they marched through about 2 miles of forest then ran up hills and fought and chased the Union Army all day long. About 30% we're barefooted. They we're some tough men but they did train for that. The faster you could move men the better your chances. If Stewart would have scouted at Gettysburg and not go the wrong way as he did at Chancellorsville Confederates probably would have won Gettysburg.
@kurtsherrick20663 жыл бұрын
@@wendigoairsoftreenactment9303 It wasn't his fault. He didn't want to attack that position. Picket just followed Orders. He did want to attack from the flank but wasn't allowed to.
