For the last week I have been creating illustrations to celebrate pride month but as much as this is a celebration of pride and love it is also a month of remembrance, remembrance of all who have lost their lives due to how they identify. I First discovered the LGBTQ+ community several years ago after the passing of Leelah Alcorn a transgender teen who after not being accepted by her parents committed suicide.
I was hurt to see such a lack of love the parents showed to their child, I ultimately believe that no matter how someone identifies or who they love if it doesn't cause anyone any harm i have no problem with it.
Love who you want to Love and Live as you truly are.
This piece is in remembrance of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, after over a year has passed it is clear that there is still a lot of hurt in the LGBTQ+ community and as a ally i want to support all those still hurt by the event.
If you would like to support those fighting to support survivors of the pulse shooting and provide hope to those in the LGBTQ+ community you can here-
