So I was rewatching the last when dumb yellow guy was trying to figure out ducks cross word puzzle when he says "maybe it's above us and there is bigger ones and then ever bigger ones above that" so he is obviously talking about the big and bigger boys.

Each floor of the house represents a higher level of awareness that Yellow Guy is experiencing. The reason he missed the final flight of stairs is because, despite how smart he's become, he still hasn't realized that the show is a comedy, where things happen because they're funny, and not pieces some grand mystery to solve. Leslie even expresses her frustration that he still can't see the funny side.

That's actually a pretty good meta commentary too. That at the end of the day a lot of easter eggs and ideas might just be for entertainment or aesthetics rather than some grand story. Or to put it another way, a comment to the audience not to take it quite so seriously

You missed something VERY important. Roy, just like the original show, Roy is credited at the end. He is hidden in the intro, he is in Yellow Guys’ shed in episode one and he is the guy that Yellow Guy found on the road. Roy is STILL very important and he could either be with the actors/creators or even over them. Maybe even Red Guy and Roys’ relationship is still the same, as Lesley said: “Batteries can be replaced, but some things STAY THE SAME” Besides, he’s also in the storage box and the crossword puzzle in episode six. Yeah I know he had an obvious appearance in episode 3 but it still proves my theory

we have the same idea with roy , i also commented something related to what you are saying but im pointing out if he is bad or good. Keep in mind that he is barely shown in the show (hiding from people who controls?) and his memories could be permanent since he also has batteries/electricity running in him and the current theory is yellow guy is in control of himself if he has charged batteries, then that will be the same for roy, if he has charged batteries, neither lesley or the actors can control him, but only himself.

Personally I doubt that Roy actually had as much power in the original show, as people like MatPat with the media theory would have lead us to believe. This is pure speculation, so it doesn't necessarily debunk your point, but the argument could be made, that Roy is purely featured in the new season as an easter egg. Afterall, the new season plays more with the person in power as Lesley, or the people above her (as discussed in the video). The new show is already *littered* with easter eggs and callbacks everywhere, just look at the aforementioned crossword puzzle and the set design. With that said, I can see how it would make sense for him to have more power and might in the new show, if one were to believe that he did so in the original. But maybe we should consider that the old and new show might not be as closely related as first thought. Just like the first episode of the old show isn't technically canon, the old and new shows probably (in my mind) share the episode format, the characters and the themes in storytelling, but are different in overall narrative and analysis. I want to say again, that this is just my thoughts.

I feel like "Batteries can be replaced, but some things remain the same" has a different meaning: What if she meant that even though she replaced David with Yellow Guy, she feels the exact same as before? "No matter how twist and turn, we're still dancing in chains." Maybe here she's trying to say "No matter how much I try to escape the pain, I'm still suffering." Along with her yelling at Yellow Guy "You're not my real son.", it makes sense. That "You're not my real son." feels like her actually reminding herself out loud that Yellow Guy is not her real son, reminding herself that David is dead and perhaps realizing how much her coping mechanism isn't working.

If Yellow Guy replaced David, Lesley would have been smartified at some point, but may lose that as Yellow gains it, therefore no longer replacing David. I got a biblical reference from this sequence, "we're all God's favourites, but he hates us for killing his only real son". I'm not sure how that would work, when even God is trying to escape his own multiverse, as what seems to be the case. Maybe it was the God rays through the stained glass, or the Hebrew name, idk... But the "you're done here, off you pop", was meant to keep Yellow Guy from the upstairs, after unlocking it for her (or maybe she unlocked it, by getting him to take the book. I think her coping mechanism isn't working, because she is instructed to cope by the mechanics that her controllers deem appropriate, what benefits them, but keeps her in chains. And I think you've jumped the gun on equating slavery/imprisonment with suffering... Maybe the experiment expresses joy in a different way? Like, the controllers don't actually understand how the characters work, they're just working with what they have, to stay in control/avoid becoming Lesley. But he leaves the attic like: "Oh wow, shit, seriously? Are we really gonna do this? That kinda... sucks." And I think the zoom out means, the stairs disappeared when the book was shredded, but it's actually the same dollhouse.

Someone else (I think) pointed out that episode 6 is a dramatization of Plato's allegory of the cave, in which an entire society is chained inside a cave, their only reality being shadows cast on the wall by a higher level power. This higher level power is basically operating puppets in front of fires to cast the shadows. So this seems to fit in with the theories in this video. Clearly our three heroes are chained in the cave, and the teachers are the reality being cast before them. In Plato's allegory, one of the chained members escapes the cave, and at first finds actual reality painful and confusing, but soon comes to accept it. If he were to return to his chained brethren and told them what he learned, they would think he's insane and would probably even kill him. So there is no doubt that the chains Leslie sings about are the chains that keep them bound to this false reality. But how metaphorical are the chains? My question in light of this video is if the book were to provide a physical escape (like going out a hidden door marked EXIT) or escape simply through enlightenment. Physical escape would seem pointless judging from episode 5. They tried that and it didn't work. Only through knowledge and truth can they be free. With Yellow Guy's batteries depleted, even a glimmer of a memory of smart Yellow Guy's thoughts would seem not just pointless, but insane. They run up against the accepted reality of his society. So the proposed enlightenment must be rejected. And killed.

Here's an idea, I'm pretty sure we've all heard the theory that yellow guy is supposed to be David, Lessie's son who died in a car crash, and all these lessons are things she never got to teach the real David. well, what if David wrote the book? Kids love making things, secret languages, silly characters, all sorts of things. And who usually helps them with those? their parents. What I'm suggesting is that David wrote the characters and the language and maybe even the general concept of the show with his mom and now Leslie is using them to act out her grief. As for what's up the stairs? well, if you were a crazy lonely person playing with dolls all day, there's probably only 2 places to do it, the attic or the *basement* . That's right, what I'm theorizing is that what's up those final stairs is the actual home of David and Leslie

Hello! I noticed something that is VERY IMPORTANT. We see red is an actor in a costume yet he is trying to escape in episode 5. This shows the actors are controlled and want to escape. They are here against their will. However Leslie does not take red back to the house despite her role as essentially the camera watcher that Mamés sure everything is in its right place. We know red was left at the dump because only yellow actually hear Leslie say that. I think Leslie is making ways of escape by making the possibility of the actors coming back to end the nightmare. She of course does save yellow guy however because they have a plan to get away. I think this ENTIRELY CHANGES how we view the actors.

Critical line that Lesley delivers a lot of people are missing: "I ALWAYS make sure to have backups!" There's probably more than one copy of the book. This cycle likely repeats numerous times, and she's gone through multiple books trying to get him to put the pieces together, only to be foiled by the other characters/teachers somehow. The time between each instance could be dramatically longer than we realize.

The Time loop theory makes sense when you think about the stairs that are climbed in episode 6. Red Guy is clearly shown to want to escape and/or explore the house so it wouldn't have made sense for him not to have climbed the stairs and discovered everything beforehand. Lesley must also have a model for the stairs which she added after episode 5. It would also make sense for this to have been a pre planned action by Lesley as she had clearly been expecting yellow guy.

I think it’s because the stairs are part of the “fourth wall”. Once yellow guy was higher functioning than the rest of his friends, he was able to see it. That’s why the last episode ends with the camera pulling back through an infinite room. The characters don’t see the fourth wall. They’ve accepted it to be an infinite stretch of nothingness and therefore cannot see the stairs.

The fact that the actors caught on him going to lesley's room would also explain why the big and bigger boys room exists in the first place. Although from the outside perspective it totally seems like there are two floors they are three, that's because maybe the actors build those big and bigger boys rooms just to try to stop yellow guy to get to the answer. As a way to say to him "you wanted answers, here are your answers" he almost stays in the big or bigger rooms for a moment, till he realizes none of that actually makes sense and he actually see the actors.

There could be another reason why Yellow Guy shreds the book. It could either be A. What you said and the actors make him do it. B. Yellow Guy realized that the actors now know that they have a plan, so he shreds the book to stop them from deciding his plans so he can think of another way to escape the cycle.

i also thought the book was a show bible, just without looking for details on my first viewing. it just made sense to me, yellow guy was "questioning the nature of his reality" as he was climbing the stairs, trying to figure out what was going on, and lesley knew what he wanted, and gave him a book with the answers to what's going on in it.

One thing: Red and Duck didn't empty the batteries in Electracey. They just overloaded the system with too many appliances at once, and I think Electraceys noises was her trying to warn them about that.

There's another aspect to realize to regarding the actors. They knew about it because of the intro song Yellow Guy had with the 'dream'. He literally told them, hence why Duck was looking so agog at him during. There's also another frightening thing at play. The Duck and Red Guy in the 'prop box' or in the dark are chummy with one another, going on about how they'd like to look at each other but the second they get caught in the light, Duck forcibly switches out the batteries. The actors knew what was happening and took action to ensure the book was destroyed. Hell the wasteful ways they used electricity leading up to the blackout could even be the actors setting this plan up in the first place!

Roy probably wrote it. He's the single most mysterious and in control character of the entire franchise, further Roy only inserts himself when things on the show start going wonky. He shows up to 'save' his son which is in reality just to kill the family and eat them but it still gets Yellow back where he 'belongs'. Further he shows up in the car when the crew is trying to drive away, though Red tosses him the fact is is that he can just exist anywhere he wants, lastly we know Roy is always watching. The web series makes it even more clear that ultimately Roy is the one behind the scenes, he's the one that is keeping everyone trapped and likely for his own personal gain. I theorize that Lesley lost her son and ultimately made some kind of 'deal' with Roy to produce Don't Hug Me I'm Scared as a coping mechanism. However Roy is Roy and simply used her grief to make an easy deal, trapping her in the series with the flanderized puppet mockery of her dead son, Yellow. So when Yellow comes up to the attic she gives him the book hoping that it will somehow throw a wrench in things but instead it's shredded. Lastly the actors are just actors, they're there all the time playing their parts and the puppets just don't see them or realize they're puppets. Yellow only notices because his brain has been turned on and he can finally see the world for what it really is, a set with actors controlling his friends and the fact that he's not supposed to see them. Roy is like this, Roy is the producer and the puppet Roy is merely that, how he interacts with the series when necessary and how the puppets see him. Lesley is the creative that sold out, Yellow is her creation, Roy is the one in control. The book is the script.

Lesley is an omnipresent threat throughout the series, continually resetting the trio for them to relive the same day over and over again, similar to the Web Series where June 19 is the symbol of this. That said, I have a feeling that Red Guy is aware of this, but he is not aware of Lesley.

Another point worth mentioning to support the idea of the actors/producers being upstairs is that we can see that Leslie's room is clearly the top floor from the roof, meaning you cannot progress higher without leaving the scope of the show as it stands. It makes sense that the actors wouldn't physically be part of the house, because whilst they are integral to the show they are not present in the narrative (yet).

I believe Yellow Guy did not tell Red and Duck about secret language, he did not bring book to them just because he was told to I think Yellow really loves Red and Duck, he seems to be very sensitive and emotional person. He genuinely wants to share his life with them, his inventions and thoughts. He wants to be on the SAME level as them, yet when they mock him he doesn't try to mock back (maybe it's because of the wo- EAGLE, but still, he was very friendly until the end 4th episode)

But he put his eye on the intro wall, he wants to know something, but based on his rejection of Manny in Family, pushing him away in favor of his desire to kill the family for Lilly dissing him/the dad concept (or so they claim). But it seems she did that, due to the weakness of Vincent Adultman. What if Lesley used to be human, she became a disconnected puppet when she disappointed the controllers, and Roy gave in to Harry and didn't stop him pulling the plug, couldn't reach and gain control of the machine, and that was his failure, that tuned him disconnected?

I definitely think part of the whole motif is how guilt and grief can basically enslave you and take over your body and emotions. If David really is her dead son, then maybe her dancing in chains means she’s resigned to her fate and realizes that she can’t stop it from looming over her at all times. Also notice how the paintings up the stairs depict yellow guy walking up them before he even starts to or while he’s actually doing it. They aren’t in control of their fate or destiny, whatever happens, this is their reality, and it’s probably already taken place, over and over and over again for years. He already walked up the stairs, hence the paintings. He already spoke to the “big boys” (almost like the big boys in charge of the whole show) and Lesley herself, because they both acknowledged how they were expecting yellow guy at some point without him exactly knowing why. This has all happened before. Maybe it’s a theory of infinite parallel universes each one only slightly different from the other, or maybe it’s moreso to fo with the real world fact that we aren’t really in control of fate, because fate doesn’t not exist. The world is unflinching and unthinking, it does not have things happen because people “deserve them”. So no matter what you do, you can’t change fate if it’s not real. You’re only in control of what you are in control of in your life. You can’t change the past, but you can change the future because it hasn’t happened yet. It just depends on what “baggage” you take with you from your past. As much as she wants to escape it (no matter how we twist and turn), it’s not going to change the fact that her son is dead, and she is forced to live with that and the emotional turmoil it has caused (we’re still dancing in chains).

The “My Dad is a computer” line that Yellow Guy says in original series is a good connection to why Yellow Guy would also be a “computer” and run on electricity/batteries. Not “My Dad HAS a computer”, but “My Dad IS a Computer”. They even make a point to have the computerized voice at the end of the original Colin the Computer episode say the line a second time, so it must be important. Can only assume that Roy also runs on batteries. And I don’t have much evidence on this part of my theory: but I think Roy isn’t really Yellow Guy’s dad, but rather an older version of Yellow Guy. In the transportation episode, Yellow Guy picks up “this guy on the side of the road”, which is the Roy puppet in a new costume with some added features. At first I thought it was strange, like “oh, I guess the didn’t have the budget for a completely different character puppet”, but knowing this show and their attention to detail, I now think it was intentional. This was ANOTHER older version of Yellow Guy. After all, Leslie has “plenty of backups”. Would also make sense why that one was so far from the house and Roy seems to go where he pleases, because he runs on batteries. Not strings attached to the actors and puppeteers. I think he gave it to her on purpose because he knew his batteries were dying and she gave it to him as soon as he came back up because she knew he'd lose the batteries quickly afterwards. She probably built him to remember her son by but also as a helper in her plan. Even if she didn't build him, then she had the battery and brain chip implants given to him so that he could remember past resets.

I have a theory: i believe that "Dont Hug me im A KZbin Series," and "Don't Hug Me Im A TV Series," are the same canon. roy is still in the special thanks area, but lost his godlike powers. i believe that Roy is working with, or under, Leslie, and, i believe that Roy is a personification of Michael, the ugliest boy in town, and that Michael's "special one" was Leslie, giving an answer to why she yelled, "BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT MY REAL SON" at Yellow guy, or, "David" (being why he has a D on his shirt, and always had from the beginning and, why the coffin pointing to yellow guy in Ep. 2, death, and the gravestone from the same episode) So, heres my theory. Leslie and Michael (Roy), had a son named David, who died in a hit and run (shown in ep. 5, transportation), so to keep the memories of her family alive, Leslie made the doll house, however, due to her not being complete, seen by the stitching on her face, and all the hate and anger she has, it corrupts the dollhouse, giving us the creepy shit we see. it also explains why we have so many episodes basically centered arounf yellow guy, in episodes Love, Food, Dreams, Friendship, Family, and Electricity. Literally half of the episodes are centered around ya boi Yellow guy and no one questions anything about it. and this is just a theory, i wouldnt be surprised if im wrong but hey, its a good idea.

Ok, so I have a theory that this series has inspired so far. I think this is a story about grief and loss. I think Lesley witnessed David getting hit and killed by a car. I think Red Guy and Duck are characters made up be David that either represent parts of himself (Duck the one who objects to many things, is uncooperative and doesn't want to compromise, and Red Guy the rebel who feels frustrated and stuck and wants to escape his monotonous life) That were make believe friends of his (as he was a child when he died) or that his mind made up as he was dying to cope with his life ending. Duck, represented by the bird he was chasing when he was hit and Red Guy, represented by himself covered in blood. For this theory David is dead with these friends he made up and is in limbo. Time moves forward outside of his space, but he and his friends never grow old. I believe someone mentioned that in an episode Yellow Guy is said to be 38, this could mean that he was hit when he was 8 years old and it's been 30 years since the accident. The other direction this could go in is that the entire story is just Lesley coping with Davids death. She is writing a story (the book) to hold on to David by imagining his life in this setting where he is always safe and preserved with his friends. I imagine the symbols on the cover of the book is something that he drew as a child and she uses to create a language within the story, something that he created used to keep him alive with this book. I think the stairs at the top of the attic represents acceptance and letting go, but Lesley refuses to do that and so she tells him to go back to his safe place where he can always remain. I also feel like Roy was probably an abusive father and that might be why he's written or depicted as an evil character and why Lesley might have stitches all over her. He was probably controlling and strict, also why he can be seen in the background of many shots as he is always watching and looming. Only other theory that makes sense to me is that David was hit by a car as a child and suffered some brain damage or maybe was overcome with trauma and mentally broke. The batteries can be a metaphor for his meds as he experiences temporary clarity after switching batteries. The conversation in the attic can be him talking to Lesley (his mother) while having some clarity about reality, but being too far gone to truly understand it all. The 1st theory still very much applies here with David making up friends to spend his time with as his perception of reality is very warped. Maybe all the teachers are actual teachers homeschooling David and he can not comprehend what they are trying to teach him, so he daydreams about adventures with his friends. The teachers speaking nonsense tells me that he can't grasp the concepts they are trying to teach him, so it just sounds like gibberish to him. idk, this was longwinded af, but I haven't seen anyone else come to any of these conclusions aside from the theories mine are building on top of, like David being dead, so maybe someone will either agree with me here, get inspired by my thoughts and build upon them further or point out places I'm definitely incorrect about. And I think that the book, which is covered in dust, is Davids book he used to draw and scribble on (presumably 30 years ago) that Lesley can't let go of and keeps in the attic or something.

This whole deal of "who is in control" and the hierarchy of power made me think... What if the toy house in Lesley's room and her controlling the dolls of(and therefore) the main trio, makes up her feelings being mirrored by their actions. Red guy wanting to get free of the "you're supposed to do this" mentality(him leaving his job to partner with Roy on the original series and wanting to leave the house on the new series); Yellow guy's awareness of it all and suffering by being the most common target of every bad thing, along with being the one grieving a lost one; and Duck's awareness of something is going wrong in a few occasions(him snapping on the original series when that meat looking teacher is talking about food on the original series and him being the most disobedient on the Jobs episode, as him taking the longest to 'play along' with everyone) and his seemingly short temper(like Lesley's sudden tone change while she talks with smart Yellow guy). Also I think Roy could be somewhere in between Lesley, the actors and the creators themselves on the hierarchy even after his partnership with Red guy ended after the first series, since he's still watching and showing up or being mentioned. Also reminding of the quote "... the journey always ends up back at home."(don't remember the exact words now) was a rule they have to follow, making him step in and actually do something on the Family episode as Yellow guy would still be there if he didn't freed him of that 'family' 's grasp.

Yellow guy also drops hints like in one of the intros he says "i had a dream there was another me (alluding to the multiple versions of them Lesley has), and I went and saw the other ones." or when he tries to talk about his previous experience upstairs and he says "It's when you can't remember that over the top of you, theres bigger ones that are bigger and bigger, and then over the top of it theres a smaller one of all of it at the top of that." He's talking about how there are larger versions of themselves going up the floors, and then at the "top" there is the house with a small version of the entire house and everything inside. The foreshadowing is crazy

I think the actors existing in the show doesn't necessarily mean they are upstairs, as if Lesley controls the characters she would surely control the puppeteers. There are only puppets of the main three however so it is likely she doesn't control the teachers or showrunners.

Wanted to leave this here since I'm loving this deep dive you're doing. I've been really racking my brain thinking about how the syndicated show ties into the themes of the web series. DHMIS is a series about television and the effect it has on children and I think the same can be said for this series as well. Here's what I think; the writer of the book was David, an incredibly bright child who was smarter beyond his years and who had a very wild imagination, coming up with all sorts of scenarios for the characters he came up with. Tragically, he died young, but this idea manifested itself with the help of his grieving parents; the web series, which shows Roy's take on his son's ideas and basically squeezing the imagination of his late son for profit, and the television series, which portrays Lesley's involvement and her careful touch with trying to expand upon the ideas her late son came up with in earnest, ultimately succeeding in bringing her son's vision to television, though she is trapped and chained down by the grief which she has never come to terms with. The symbols are something David came up with; the reason the book is dusty is because either Lesley respects her son's creativity too much to let anyone other than David's stand-in (Yellow Guy, NOT her real son) read it or that the script is unreadable to anybody other than the young genius who came up with it and know what the symbols mean. I don't think that Yellow Guy understands that he's at least partly David, which would hint at Lesley understanding things about him that he lacks fundamentally as a facsimile of David, like seeing the funny side like David used to. Can't wait to see how the other two videos will turn out, have loved these so far!

Also, i had a theory about the dollhouse. In the Computer episode of the web series, Red Guy steps into another room which has actors as well just like in the Big Boys room, and I think that each of the rooms in the Dollhouse are supposed to be different genres of educational learning programs using the same characters, like an edutainment franchise. DHMIS' main cast has always been geared aesthetically at what would be a younger audience, kindergarten to maybe second grade before you outgrow the style, like Sesame Street. But the Big Boys Room, that's like educational shows for third to fifth graders, the visual aesthetic is much more cluttered and crowded. And the Bigger Boys Room is like the last vestige of "cool kids" education content that starts questioning "why", which has been warped in standard DHMIS fashion into the emotionally detached scientific experimentation on Stain Edwards. The next level from there... Well there is none. By that time, if you're still dependent on content to teach you, you don't need these characters anymore to present that information. You're stuck enjoying the same things you watched as a kid over and over. So the level above the Bigger Boys Room is where the creative director lives, suspended in a fantasy world of her son's making and the real world upstairs, able to converse and interact with the characters on their own level while being able to manage the product of its content in the real world upstairs. But... so what's the side room in the computer episode? I think that's supposed to be SpiderElsagate content or possibly educational content for toddlers. The characters are "teaching" "concepts" but they are paired down minimalistically to buzzwords and very simple character designs, designed to pump out content constantly and keep that demographic enthralled, possibly to make them fall in love with the cast of DHMIS. Anyway... Thought I'd share 😅

Good theory, but there are some problems. 1) Yellow guy in episode 5 says "I knew what they were but I don’t know now *and then it went away"* how would he know about the book getting shredded if it happened in this reset, and theres only one copy of the book? 2) Yellow guy in episode 6 says "And then over the top of it theres a smaller one of all of it at the top of that." He mentions the dollhouse (lesleys room) as "the top" and doesnt mention anything about a fifth floor.

I think the "security guard" theory holds more water. I think there are answers, and someone doesn't want Yellow Guy and the others to have them. Lesley is there to play the role of the puppet master, hand over a book that's nothing more than a red herring, and district Yellow Guy from the fact that there are more stairs and higher levels.

Lesley = Actor who misses her son, doesn't want them to leave or be aware of their situation as characters on a kids show. Alternatively she could just need the money, it is a job after all. Book = Random Macguffin, its a symbol of information but useless as its in an arcane language. Its a tool used by the actor to progress the plot of "IT ALL RETURNS TO THE BEGINNING" Wall Paintings = The Script. This is planned to the point where someone literally framed the scene, before the scene took place. This was never mentioned in the video. The Shredder = The character randomly brings up his shredder that never existed before. This isnt just allusion they bring it up 5 times. They beating you over the head with the message "IT RETURNS TO THE BEGINNING" - Its planned. Its all scripted, no ones free. Its a very well written episode about "What if a kids puppet became self-aware and highly intelligent to the point of questioning the lessons and the reality itself?" The show cant physically continue without him, and the cast is aware of this thus will do anything to prevent them from ruining it. Every episode drills home "They are in a prison. There is no escape." Each episode explores their own ways to escape it. Working, Hiding (mentally), Running away, Questioning it, exploring it, Literally dying. There is no escape. IT ALL RETURNS TO THE BEGINNING. Lesley speaks vaguely and loosely to Yellow because hes a puppet she knows very well, its less than talking to a child... or your real son. The same way Mr. Rogers would talk to his puppets, but with the Dont hug me twist. *The book said nothing, or if it did, it does not matter*

The first episode was all about creativity. With the finale of the original webseries allowing the characters to be as they like. I'm sure the plot of Don't Hug me I'm Scared is all about meta-commentary on media. The entire show is a spoof, it has interesting fourth-wall breaks - it's a show about a show. But instead of a kid's like show being all happy, fun and light-hearted it's a thinly veiled nightmare hellscape. The puppets being forced to "perform" for the audience, while we watch idly by in fascination. Their suffering is our amusement. I agree with this theory of the top of the hierarchy being the creators/actors/tv studio. The puppets mind have to reset because if they become too sentitent the show will end. I'm certain the finale of this show will them breaking free of their prison. Prison certainly seems to be a heavy heavy theme with this series. Also iirc the creators said every fan theory is correct, in a sense that the show means whatever you want it to. The puppets are not seen as characters but things to be used.. at least that feels like the meta commentary. Perhaps in the end they will get their identities and become real characters.. or people.. or whatever and cease to be entertainment for the morbidly curious.

I just had a weird idea: What if the letters/symbols on the book somehow correlate with the book? Perhaps the title of the show itself is the key to solving the title. This goes off the idea that perhaps the title is related or the Show Bible in some form. Don't - The letter "D" of Don't, shares the letter on Yellow's overalls, and starts with the same letter of David's name. Don't could also account for the hyphen, it connects Do and not together in the form of "don't", like a hyphen would with other words. Don't is probably also why he is the main target: he isn't special like the others on the surface, but is on the inside. Don't also ironically works with the ideas of batteries: "Don't let his batteries run out." Hug - Hug can mean to confined the batteries, or to hold onto one's memories. It could to embrace one's self, which Yellow Guy does by having the most fun out of the ground, and the most kind. It could also mean perhaps a form of bond or relationship with others. Me - This is supposedly Duck's name by this streak of the imagination, which makes sense as to why his would be just one symbol: Me is relatively simple, and makes some sense by saying "My name". The two words start with M, ends with E. He is also the most sassy of the bunch as well, so he would probably be named something self-centered to represent his character. I - For this to work, we're dividing I and Am into separate words, apologies. I, in this context, could mean... many, many things. Leave ideas in the comments below, but it could be on again how self-centered Duck is to himself, compared to the others. Duck is also the most perceptive of the bunch, and is very focused on what he sees, thus "I". Am - Red's first name, and it connects with the idea that "am" means the present tense first-person singular of BE. Thus, we can assume that Yellow means the future (thus the smartest), and he runs on electricity: the power of the future. Red is the present, the here and now, thus why he is much more vocal this season: has a lot more to get off his chest and cares about the present now than ever. Duck/Green is the past. Self explanatory: most self centered, most old clothing style, and the past more often than not, dies down (like in Death). The past can also be a bit foggy or easily mistaken, and is the simplest form of time to understand. Scared - Red's last or surrname, and the most logical one: If the symbol represents him being unhappy, it has a reason why: He is scared, and the one literally most controlled by the actor since he is a costume, thus he is the most unhappy and scared. He is not just a puppet, but a suit, so he can only move when he is worn, thus: scared. Scared goes a lot more deeper obviously but I want to put as why it would be Red's name the most. There are probably a lot of holes in this theory/idea, since I'm a scatterbrain, but I want to put it out there since it makes some sense of how the words connect, or why the title of the show is titled so oddly.

7:50 Lesley says “lessons learned”, notice how she used the regular form of the past tense of the verb “learn” instead of the irregular form, “learnt”. The past tense of verbs change from irregular to regular when the verb isn’t comminky used enough for people to bother remember its irregular form. What does this mean? I don’t know, knowing this show, this might help understand something completely unrelated like what is Clay Hills or something, I just wanted to point out this detail. I'm convince the entire operation is a plan to make a "perfect" puppet that can perfectly replicate David. The blob from the second episode can be a seen as a metaphor for this process. Teachers exist to instill "core values" as puppets are run through trials over and over again, until they graduate up the pyramid. The exception being Yellow Guy/David who's puppet is modeled on a real person. The "actors" are trying to create "smart AI" and using a grieving mother and her dead son to advance their experiment.

if any of yall saw my comment on the last video, here's some additional thoughts on my theory: I believe that Roy is trying to take some semblance of control back over the show (assuming he hasn't already) OR is trying to escape from it. either way, I believe that he's trying to weasel his way back into having some sort of influence over the show and story rather than being delegated to just a side appearance that's referencing "yeah, I was in the original KZbin series". perhaps that's why in the intro, he's seen staring through a hole in the wall that looks like he made. he's trying to break through the wall and become part of the show. he's peering in but has no real control or influence. if Roy is trying to get influence so he and the others can escape, it would explain why he put on a (very bad) disguise and hopped into the car with the main trio as they were nearing the outside. he wanted to escape with them. it might also explain his reasoning for helping yellow guy get away from the deranged family. he wanted his son to get out because he knew if he didn't then yellow guy would just be trapped there with them for the foreseeable future or that yellow guy would be harmed beyond repair and Roy believed that he was the only person capable of surviving that encounter at that moment. we already know that Roy has been keeping an eye on the trio, mainly his son, since the beginning of this series as evidence of his numerous slightly hidden appearances since the beginning mainly in the intro through the wall but also through "jokes" and background "gags" that happen throughout. since Roy never speaks we don't know his true intentions but this could be a logical deduction. on the other hand, perhaps Roy is doing all of this to try and get his old position of running the show back. or, maybe, he already is back in control and the hidden flight of stairs is his abode. I mean it wouldn't be a stretch to say that he just walks up and down the stairs when main 3 aren't paying attention and Lesley doesn't (or cant) say anything about it. but my problem with that is the fact that the actors and puppeteers are obviously human and, if Lesley is anything to go off of, the higher up you go, the more human like the powers become. I think the first 2 puppet rooms are just a deterrent from thinking that there is more than Lesley since she's the first "human" we see (even though I'm not fully convinced that she's entirely human and is instead a sort of human/puppet hybrid). I mean the weird "smarter" puppets didn't even have dolls in the dollhouse when the main 3 did so why would they be important? yes, you can argue that Roy & Lesley don't either but why would they? we know Lesley has some sort of control and that the dollhouse is hers, so why would she have a doll to control herself? and why would Roy have a doll? if he is in control then obviously he wouldn't have one since he wouldn't want to be manipulated or controlled by anyone. and if the first theory is right then, again, he wouldn't have one since he isn't really part of the show, he just shows up of his own free will since he cant be controlled. in my opinion this story will boil down to a single word: Control. maybe it's a fight for control of the show or perhaps a dissolvement of the powers already in control over the show so that the characters can control themselves for the first time. maybe, just maybe, it might even be a journey of learning to take control of your own life and not have everyone sitting in a higher place than you dictate your every move in life. I know I'm probably looking wayyyyyyy deeper into it than i should but i have a passion for theory crafting and digging for hidden details in media. its probably why I've fell down 30 too many arg rabbit holes and i basically live in the fnaf lore pit.

In episode six Lesley said "your not my real son!" His overalls have a D on it the exact same as David's maybe David is Lesley's son and she made yellow guy so she could remember her son maybe Red guy and Duck were his friends and he was only really happy when he was with them maybe she made them too so she can see him really happy? I feel like before in the internet series and now the general gist is still the same for the most part. 1. Red guy knows what's going on and wants to get out. 2. Duck knows what's going on and wants to stay, maybe out of a fear of the outside world or prison logic of being "in the system" too long and not knowing how to live without it. 3. Yellow guy is gradually finding out about the system and deciding which of the 2 to become. The problem becomes why doesnt red guy try to escape or know what's going on in more episodes? Well. Maybe he does. When they're on the computer he is the one actually using it. He checks his email first, maybe to find some news from outside. When they family episode happens he wants to find his family, maybe to find out about the outside world, transport he needs to get out and get out he does. In jobs, he doesn't want to play along at all.

It seems that one of the overarching premises of this in-universe “show” so to speak, is Lesley is using the yellow guy puppet as a means to cope with the grief of losing her dead son David. That.. as we know, was killed by her own car, whether not she was driving herself.. or…. Someone else.. The mentioning of “dancing in chains” obviously signifies her feeling trapped within her own grief & unable to move on, yet still trying to create a happy facade & keep “dancing”.. in a metaphorical sense.. But here’s a couple things I was also pondering that struck me I had noticed.. What if “Roy”.. is yet another Puppet that simply REPRESENTS the REAL Roy, that would of been David’s Father. Perhaps he was abusive & neglectful - And maybe it was him.. that was driving Lesley’s car.. because of course families share cars at times.. That might also be why Leslie chooses to portray the Roy character as.. you guessed it.. abusive & neglectful.. and of course selfish.. as the only reason Roy appeared to “save” yellow guy was for his own selfish reasons.. Another thing I noticed.. is for some strange reason to stained glass window in Leslie’s room.. doesn’t appear to have Red Guy on it at all. Only Duck & Yellow Guy. It also gives off a very distinct “holy” essence or ethereal type heavenly glow & aesthetic.. We know that it was a bird (sorry.. “rat”) - flying into the road & David chasing it that was the cause of Davids untimely demise.. so it’s interesting because it would make sense that both David & the bird that got hit by the car would be in heaven.. Just something’s to think about.. Another phenomenal video bro! Keep up the awesome work! 🌟

My original Theory is that the person upstairs is a Yellow Guy. One that managed to go above. The Red and Duck in each room always greeted yellow guy with a "Oh your back" when he came in. The idea I always see is that yellow guy has made the trip up the stairs before and always forgets...but what if that's not the case? It's important to note that Leslie has "Spares" for each character incase one breaks. Well this could be true for the show too. A different Yellow Guy made it past her. That's why the current one doesn't have any memory of the book. Also isn't it shown that the Door to the next floor doesn't open until Yellow Guy leaves? It's in the process of swinging open after he's always walked away. It's also clearly built into the wall because it's meant to be hidden. I don't think Leslie is on his side cause...if going up was the way to escape then why hasn't she? Again this is all speculation. Side note: Maybe Roy actively works with the real actors to keep the show in line? That's why he's sorta an odd one out. He actively saves Yellow Guy (even though he mostly wanted the Chicken) but this paved the way for the show to reset for the next episode. If yellow guy just remained with the family forever then it would ruin the show. So he's sent in to "fix" it but allowing yellow guy to escape while he kills the family.

it could be way easier than you think. the book = the lore. the book gets shredded. thus, the lore doesnt matter. why they dont remember stuff doesnt matter. why the dollhouse changes doesnt matter. its a jab at people like us who read into every little detail, while in reality, it was probably never intended to be analyzed so hard. the point is to look at the bigger picture, the themes and ideas the show is trying to tell, THAT is what the book is trying to say.

This isn’t really an addition to the theory, it’s more an interpretation of the show: I think that this shows the dynamics of child stars in media. Roy and Lesley are Yellow Guys parents who are controlling him in the media, eventually losing sight or control of yellow guy. Idk, it’s kinda surface level but still interesting to think about all the different kinds of interpretations.

Obviously the stairs from Lesley's room go up to Grolton and Hovris. The DHMIS world is just a pale comparison to theirs. Why else would every episode of G&H line up completely with the events of the puppets' world? E2, DEATH - Grolton's mother dies and leaves him money in the will E3, FAMILY - Grolton's brother is visiting, so he is connecting with his family E5, TRANSPORT - Grolton and Hovris finally go outside (while the puppets finally get away from their house) This theory and the Duncan's Lasagna Postulate are the only ideas that I believe 100% for this show

I believe the creators are toying with the people who are trying to find hidden meaning in this new show and the old episodes, and saying to pay more attention to "the funny side." I think the whole scene with Leslie handing the book saying "you wanted this, didn't you" and "Gosh, You still can't see the funny side." Yellow guy is "over thinking" during most of the episode. I think it's directed to the audience trying to analyze and find hidden meaning. I think when yellow guy shreds the book, they're showing it's not important and it being the last episode was planned.

Hello! I have noticed something that I think is actually very important. We see in the show that red guy is an actor in a costume yet he tries to escape the house in episode 5. I think that yellow guy and Leslie were not the only ones trying to escape and that some actors might be too. This means they are also under control which we already sort of knew but at least we have proof. Also this shows they want to escape, the actors are here unwantingly. I personally think that at the end of episode 5 everyone except yellow guy got replaced. This is because yellow guy is the only one to hear Leslie and because Leslie would want to help yellow guy since they want to escape. This means that the actors could come back someday if they get out of that dump and take down the nightmare. That would be really cool. Leslie is actively making ways of escape since she keeps duck and red in the dump. I think all Leslie really does is watch and when someone or something goes wrong she is their to fix it. She needs to follow the script.
