Here is a long video, but one that was requested. If you haven't seen it, check this video out first: • Remington 700 Walker t... Here I show the full procedure, beginning to end of my method of fixing the Remington 700 trigger. Also I cover the reasons I prefer a bolt locking safety. This is demonstrated on a 50 year old 1974 production 700 BDL .30-06 that I bought a few years ago never fired in the box.

Top notch video! I have watched the previous ones and this definitely answers all my questions. There were a few potential fishhooks that you eliminated as you went along. This gives me the confidence to tackle my own Rem 700. I can't get after market trigger assemblies in my country now without lots of scrutiny.

A pleasure to watch and informative. I have a similar vintage r700, a series. The sear screw is not making any difference...I adjust it and the Sears don't move . I'll double check. (Since found that on my model there is a "grub lock screw" rhat needs to be removed so you can get to the adjustment screw on both the pull and sear adjustment). I'm guessing a complete disassembly and clean might be in order...perhaps some gum or varnish from old lubricant etc is present ..or general gunk. I like the epoxy on the connector...I'll ponder that. Drill and tap may be excessive...but...good assurance. Lock tite red seems very confidence making...for keeping adjustments...but I wonder if you could adjust more later ..no judgement. Wishing you had a complete disassembly video at this stage. Was wondering if you were going to stone and polish the Sears too....ha. Many thanks Keep well. And thanks again.

Thanks for going into depth on this - the first video was really helpful but I had these exact questions. Is there an aftermarket source for old-school safeties that lock the bolt? I nodded along with the safety explanation intitially, but you're right - I always have to check that the bolt is seated. It's ingrained from hunting with the 700 a few times, and that's in relatively open hardwood forest. Now I want to lock it down although I had "adapted" to that shortcoming without thinking much about it. Edit: Those clips are called "Circlips" as far as I know.

Ultra light arms used to sell a bolt locking safety for the 700. I just buy older Remington safeties on Gunbroker or Ebay. Keep in mind, the later production (approximately 1997 to current) 700s are no longer machined to accept the bolt locking safety. They can be machined to use the older safety though. From 1982 when the bolt locking safety was deleted up till the mid 90s, the bolts and receivers were still machined to accept them. Late production 700s will require machining in addition to the older safety. Another option would be a 3 position safety on the bolt (model 70 type).
