Sans stood in the middle of the Snowdin and just staring at the empty path ahead of him. Snow fell lightly around him. But everything felt so cold, not because of the weather, but because of what had just happened. Papyrus was gone. His cheerful, silly brother. Always believing in others, always hopeful, was no more. Sans' hands were shoved deep into his pockets as he took a few steps forward. The quietness of Snowdin was unusual. No one was around. The usual cheerful vibe, the warm lights coming from the houses, the laughter, it had all disappeared. The town was empty. And Sans knew why. You had come through here. You, the one who had once seemed harmless. But things changed. Sans had watched as you fought your way through Snowdin, leaving nothing but dust behind. The Great Papyrus, the one who wanted to be friends with everyone so much, even you, had fallen too. He still remembered how Papyrus grinned, even in his last moments, believing in you until the very end. The snowfall seemed heavier now, and Sans stopped walking. His bones felt heaving, not because from the cold, but because it was from the weight from what had happened. He was used to making jokes and keeping things light. But now, nothing felt light anymore. "I should have this coming," Sans muttered to himself. "Papyrus... he never saw the bad in anyone. Even when it was staring him in the face." He kicked a patch of snow, watching as it scattered. It did not make him feel any better. He glanced back at the path, knowing it would lead to more fights, and more dust. There was no way of stopping you now, was there? He had hoped, in some corner of his mind, that things would turn out differently. However, things were different. You had changed. Snowdin was not the same anymore, and Sans could not shake the memories of what used to be. He thought about the times he and Papyrus would sit together, the silly puzzles Papyrus would come up with, and last but not least, how he had always beg Sans to stop napping on his job. He could almost hear his brother's voice now, full of life and energy. But that was all gone now. Papyrus was not coming back. Sans sighed and looked up at the sky. The stars were hidden behind thick clouds, just like the hope that had once been there. Everything was darker now, and he knew it would only get worse from here. He turned his head slightly, imagining what might come next. If you could take down Papyrus, then no one else stood a chance. Undyne, Alphys, hell, even Asgore, they'd all fall. And then, there would be no one left. Sans clenched his fists in his pockets. He know what he had to do. Maybe he could not save anyone, but he could try one last time to stop you. He would face you with all the strength he had left, even though deep down, he knew how it would end. As he began to walk again, the sound of his footsteps was only thing that echoed in that empty streets. Snowdin felt like a ghost town now, and in a way, it was. Everyone was either hiding or gone. Dust still lingered in the air, a reminder of what had happened. Sans stopped one last time, turning around to look at the path behind him. "Heh, you have really done it now, huh?" he muttered under his breath. But there was no one to and answer. Papyrus was gone, and sooner or later, Sans knew he might be too. But for now, he just kept walking, and the snow crunching softly beneath his feet. Snowdin, the place that once full of life and warmth, was nothing but cold and empty memory. And it hurt.
