Remnant 2 Apocalypse Tested: Aphelion, Bows, Crossbow & Twisted Arbalest

Arbalest is really fun gun and it's not bad at all. First of all, you want bandit as mutator so you can sometimes fire off a barrage when bandit procs. It is also pretty broke with Bore mod since disk can bounce from 2 bores for insane damage.

TL;DR Bore is notoriously buggy and while bandit can be nice on it, one mutator doesn’t make the weapon not terrible in every other situation. I did read a comment on the wiki about its interaction with bore. If intentional then that would definitely be one of the best ways of amping up the disc damage. The reason why I didn’t include it in the video was because of the inconsistency with trying to perform the trick on various bosses. Basically, when it works it can put out nutso damage. When it doesn’t work it really doesn’t work. I was also reluctant to use bore at all, it had (and still does to this day) bugs that created unintentional interactions. Spectral blade + bore is incredibly broken, unintentionally since it’s apparently hitting multiple times with both charges lodged into a target. Because of that I am hesitant on using it (look back at all of my AT vids so far I’ve yet to use it.). As for the bandit mutator, using it can certainly help especially in close quarters and large groups, however that relies on rng and only helps with one aspect of the weapon. The mod still suffers from being reliant on multiple enemies being in close proximity. There’s a reason why I brought up it having moments, in large groups of enemies it can absolutely decimate. Outside of that though you’d be better with so many other weapons or mods.

I enjoyed the Arbalest a lot when running Summoner primary. It's a great way to keep your minions Angy(tm) without running the Atonement Fold setup. Plus the mod hits a pretty large area with Amplitude. It does need some improvements to the ricochet tracking though. Weapon might just be buggy. Also, I am pretty sure fire rate affects bows in some way similar to reload speed.

I tested various setups and talked with phemeto about fire rate affecting bows. The only source that affects bow draw speed is bulletstorm, and that’s because it’s coded specifically to affect bows. Go and test it when you have the chance. Equip gunslinger, gunslingers charm, ring of infinite damage, and a fire rate fragment. You’ll notice no difference in draw speed. I was going to include the comparison in the video but opted not to. It really should affect draw speed 🙁, as it only amplifies the necessity of archers crest on bow/savior builds. I had never considered using twisted arbalest to proc summoner’s prime perk though 😂 that’s clever. I’ll have to try that out. And yeah amplitude is almost a necessity with the weapon.

@@WryHarpy Wasn't draw speed, it was something like weirdly being a pseudo reload speed-adjacent increase to firing subsequent shots, last I heard. I don't remember for sure though.

@@FelisImpurrator Ahh that does sound a lot closer to what Phemeto told me. He mentioned it being in between reloading and drawing the arrow. It’s not a huge window of time, so speeding up what’s already a fast action is hard to notice. I’ll have to do a side by side comparison now to see what part of the animation is affected by it. I think all it needs is some numbers tweaks to be on par with the other long guns. Maybe if it still had the 20% crit chance base or a tad bit more weak spot damage it could compete with the widow maker. It being a projectile based weapon it’d make sense to reward the successful hits a bit more than a hitscan weapon. The bows are a good example of this. Although their base damage is lower than the widow maker, their perfect shot mechanic is a good way of rewarding player skill. If the crossbow was midpoint between the widowmaker and the bows it’d be perfect.

You should try remaking some of the builds from the previous videos with the new content with the dlc too. Like different types of builds with different guns. I actually had a blast with the self-bleed ring and nightweaver's grudge interaction. I use savior and the haste you get from the amulet makes your weapon charge faster too.

@@WryHarpy you should just do a remake of all of them tbh. First of all it is more content, Secondly we have loadouts now which will make the preparations for the video faster than it was before and lastly you can include multiple builds for the same weapon in one video.

one of my off meta builds with anguish used the arbalest as a supplement to help clear enemies, its actually very viable in the one true king fight as it ricochets between him and the club, and is very good at dealing with the add phase, not a meta weapon, but arbalest+anguish is a very fun combo in a glass cannon dps build imo (anguish only gets around 4kdps at its very best but its still fun, hope it gets buffed)

It’s certainly possible! In fact Ruin at one point of the hell mod’s development had a free mod slot! It was changed however due to some issues with crashing, although that bug was fixed with some additional tweaking to the code/mod asset. There is a remnant modding discord, and Bolt’s server does still have lots of talk about hell mod, same with Richie Do’s server. If you’d like I could post the links to all 3 discord servers in another comment.

@@reptilnerd I’m sure they wouldn’t mind the idea of a separate mod being made for detachable boss mods. From what I understand the hell mod is pretty much finalized. Anything radically different especially in the balance/gameplay department would be better suited to its own unique project. I’m unsure if both that and the hell mod could coexist, it’d depend on what boss weapons were changed in the hell mod. It’s certainly statistically better than it was originally. Its increased damage, weakspot damage and faster reload speed all help it perform much nicer. It’s still a projectile weapon at the end of the day but it is closer to the widowmaker now in terms of damage potential.
