Thank you for keeping the Midland Terminal alive. My grandfather helped build the Carlton Mill between Cripple Creek and Victor bringing about the demise of the Railroad. Even so, it’s history is still near and dear to the residents of the District who remember hearing that train whistle as the trains passed through their towns.

The railroad is worthy of remembrance, for sure.

Oh, yes, I remembered that there's a section of former Midland Terminal trackage between the mining town of Cripple Creek and the closed Anaconda mines, which have been converted to narrow gauge track, and it's now called the Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. It offers a 4-mile round trip that offers views of Cripple Creek as well as many mines in the area. There's also a old Midland Terminal depot in Cripple Creek, which is now a museum.
How long did it take for them to drill those tunnels? You probably could have had a big business back them drilling tunnels in the Rockies. So many railroads.

Interesting question. I don't know.

I wonder where’s the location of the tracks going under Hwy 24 in the 1:24 of the video?
@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos2 жыл бұрын
The tracks stopped just short of going under Interstate 25 In that shot. They've since been removed. The area is now America the Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs.

@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos there were tracks removed in the 1990’s behind Safeway, next to Hwy 24 in Old Colorado city, any idea if they were Midland RR at one time?
@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was the Colorado Midland heading west out of Colorado Springs. I don't know if that portion of the line was abandoned in the 1990s.

@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos I met a lady who’s in her 80’s, she said he husband scraped a short portion of track from there sometime in the 1990’s. She said it was a two week job, so not much was left of the reminder of the portion of the line. Now that’s somewhere behind the Safeway area in Old Colorado city.
