What a satisfying action on those levers, I'd be out there just sliding them open and closed all day long

The booster for the smaller line feeding into the main 4" is a fantastic idea, looking forward to seeing your implementation of that. What's the rating on your remote outlet? I'm using a similar remote for my dust collector, but it is only having to operate a 2 pole contactor which does the heavy lifting of switching my 3HP blower motor on/off. Curious to see how the remote outlet holds up over time.

The outlet is rated for 15A. I do have my doubts on how long it will last. At least it was only $13 if it craps out.

Great invention, I have something similar in my classic car to activate the choke on the carburettors ,except it is a stiff wire so you only need one cable that turns it off and on and yet the idea of using this idea for directing it for air flow never came to my mind. Great work Justin👍

Hi Justin, great video. Did you try using a spring to help the return of a single cable control for a gate?
@JustinDepew4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. Have you seen the videos on blast gates by Cosmas? This is how he did it. I prefer the pull pull method over using the spring return method.
@matthewhagan97114 жыл бұрын
Any reason for not using one push pull cable instead of two pull only cables? But that mechanism does sound satisfying.
@JustinDepew4 жыл бұрын
You can't push anything with a cable. It's like pushing with a rope. It collapses.
@matthewhagan97114 жыл бұрын
@@JustinDepew with standard cables, yes. But they specifically make cables called push pull cables that have a different type of sleeve and a long metal end (instead of a ferrule) that allows it to be pushed as well as pulled.
@JustinDepew4 жыл бұрын
I have not seen those before. I will have to check them out.

Haven't seen you in a while, young man. Great work on your dust collection. Buy yourself a good filter, your lungs will love you. Also, why not remove that filter and pipe the output directly to outside? None of these options are expensive compared to your lungs and breathing. Keep up your fine work and videos....
@JustinDepew4 жыл бұрын
I have pondered exhausting outside for quite some time. I may still do this. Main disadvantage is the heat loss in the winter but that is probably worth it.

Why not mount the small pipe connection much lower on the large ridged pipe? Less length of short hose is more airflow. Even redesigning the over-arm to accept a larger diameter hose may be more worth it in the end? Going up even a quarter or half inch is much greater airflow.
@JustinDepew4 жыл бұрын
I would like to re-design the over-arm to accept 2" pipe. I hope to include that along with the "booster" I want to also make.
