Working remote is one of the huge advantages to getting into software development, cybersecurity, or any other tech position. But many people don't know the pros and cons before investing a lot of time and money going down this career path.

While searching KZbin for cybersecurity jobs, I found your channel. I've watched several of your videos and really appreciate your advice and insights in this field. I'm considering a career as a SOC analyst but haven't had a chance to explore the many other cybersecurity career paths. Do you have a cybersecurity roadmap guide video that explains the pros and cons of each path (e.g., SOC, GRC, Pentester) and the specific certifications if needed for entry-level positions? I have a technical background. Thanks!

Yeah today is my 1-year mark at my job as Information Security Analyst. It’s being really hard to get a remote position, I’ve been trying for like 3 months. My resume is not that bad (I think -I’m doing school, got few certs). Now I’ll take pentesting certs cuz that’s my actual plan. But anyways, my boss let us work 1 week remote and 2 weeks in the office. But I’m looking for fully remote lol 😅. Will keep looking. 😅 Thanks again!

I think it is possible for a trainee to work remote. I was wrong but now I know. Employers need to change their mindset unless they choose otherwise. Of course, there are pros and cons to everything.

Doing my GCIH tommorow and hope to get a remote job. The whole its "cheaper for employers" for me to be remote never really clicked before. And I would like the freedome/flexibility to work and see my family thats far from where im at. I think my resume isn't good though, I've only done IT contracts so far, so it looks like I hop around employers alot. Ive only ever done contracts for some quick money between classes(im a uni student), but I wish I hadn't now. Anyways, thank you for the highquality info. I haven't heard a lot of this before even looking for wfh/remote videos before. thank you

Hi Nick, was curious on your take on C2C and how to get started with that as a security/devsecops/cloud consultant, what do I need to have in place? I have an ein for a sole proprietorship and sometimes recruiters say that they have some c2c roles

EINs are just a substitute for your SSN tax number. C2C contracts can use this or an LLC if you open one

The purpose of the CYBERPRO Accelerator is to work with students like you land their job. Your degree from WGU still needs to be complimented with some sort of experience. You can get this from volunteering and do a lot of home lab projects, but many students struggle to map out exactly which skills to work on prior to pursuing a role. This is where the mentorship from the CYBERPRO Accelerator comes in handy...

Great video! I have a question. I'm currently in my 2nd year of my BSc in Computer Science degree. In these 2 years of completing this degree, I feel like university is such a waste of time, mainly because I'm not specializing in a particular skill. I'm learning some Python programming, then Java, then another language, and then other filler courses that have nothing to do with my actual computer science degree. I feel like I'm wasting a lot of time and money on this degree. I'm trying to find an alternative way of getting a job in the cybersecurity industry, particularly in ethical hacking, by self learning it. I bought some courses and I'm learning about ethical hacking. I'm about to take my CompTIA Security+ exam next week. I wanted to ask if you have a better/more efficient route for me to land a role in the cybersecurity space. Like, do you know of other courses I could take to acquire these skills, or should I stick with my degree and complete it? Please let me know what you think about my situation. Thanks

Great video. I guess I fall into that "it might be my resume" category. I've paid people and used AI to the max I feel, and haven't gotten an interview yet. The work/life balance is a must, and in my current position/organization, it's not going to happen.
