I agree with you concerning "over reliance" on technology at this point. I am always concerned when software updates are provided. One line of code can wreak havoc, as evidenced by the shut down of ATC in the recent past. I work in IT for a major company and a recent, unproven update slowed us down for hours, and people's lives don't depend on what we do. Imagine when self driving automobiles get it wrong and people don't know how to override and make human decisions. Something to think about??

Im currently enrolled at pilot institute. As to ADS-B IN 👍 DJI Mavic Air 2, loving it. As to Remote ID, I expect no end to harassment and confrontations; and, the development of open hunting season and bounties. Anyone at ground level with a cell phone with an app, will hunt down and shoot drones and pilots. No doubt by this time the FAA Chairman, having no common sense intellect, will lay down deviant goobermint control. Ill be sure to carry my sidearm from now on.

How exactly does RemoteID facilitate BVLOS? The FAA claims that it's a stepping stone but how so? If you aren't able to get info about manned aircraft via ADSB-in then how is RemoteID supposed to solve that problem. If I'm flying 5 miles away from my takeoff point I won't be able to hear a low flying helicopter and be able to take evasive action to avoid it. Without info about manned aircraft I just don't see how RemoteID will facilitate BVLOS. Enlighten me please. To me ADSB-in is the key enabler for BVLOS NOT RemoteID.

So far, RID provides no benefit to anyone aside from Karens and law enforcement to bother compliant pilots. If they had actually provided some reason for people to want to install it, people wouldn't hate it so much. I'd happily install it if it helped with collision avoidance and allowed for BVLOS, but it just helps me to get into trouble for minding my business.

Its all a poor idea. There is a much easer way manned aircraft stay above 1000ft unless near airport. Uas stay below 400ft and away from populated areas and los. Fixed and its worked for 80years. The only way reason to have this is so commercial drones can do deliveries autonomously. Bad idea haveing heavy drones over populated areas. In a failure people will get hurt. No1 rule never overfly people and property
