OC I definitely preferred the wireless mic set up on the first two helmets as it sounded clearer. With the wired mic, you can kinda hear the clipping but it’s still usable. If I could afford it I would go with that setup every time. Perfect set up for anyone in my mind

I use a gaming mic, with a stiff 6" flexible arm, and a 90° TRS jack. This gives me plenty of reach from the Go-Pro (no, I haven't had a single problem with 6 camera's...), and puts the mic"right there". With this clamp, my set up will be perfect for all the different helmets I have!

Interesting idea the price is right and beats Djangos. If you have an ace pro or go pro 12 or 13 you could get the same wireless setup if you use a cardo headset. You connect the camera via bluetooth to the headset and you save a few bucks.

Will you be trying out the new DJI Mic Mini for your helmet setup?
@paulwilliams49849 сағат бұрын
I tried one of these clamps a few days ago and it slipped off my Shark D-skwal 3 as I was riding, fortunately added a safety tether (a bit of cord looped through my helmet chin strap). I also prefer not to have the mic in front of my mouth, but to one side - I use a lav mic wired to a mic2 in my pocket. Another problem, as the helmet had a centrally placed recess for the visor clip I couldn't access this with the clamp in place - unless I lowered the clamp - just made it fall off faster!

the only thing I don't like about the clamp style camera mounts is that they tend to get caught up on my jacket when doing a head check.

It just crushes it a little. So it may be slightly noisier than mounting it inside seperately. Don't have a mic2 to test but the clamp works well otherwise.

I have a Dango which looks identical to this mount. It never stays where I clip it to the helmet. It always slide down a bit.
@striff14 сағат бұрын
Another weakness, is you cannot change the camera angle. Too much focus on the bike and not enough on the road. (Good of you do want more on the bike). I guess you could add a small extension between the mount and camera, so you can then tilt the camera up.

I don’t wanna be that guy but the DANGO has been out for years and it’s way much better than the DJI one. I love DJI but I’d rather support a local crew of guys from the USA that’s trying to make a name for themselves in the bike world. Plus, the DJI is crappier. I’ll gladly pay DANGO the 46$ for their product.

Unfortunately this setup will not work with the Shoei RF-1400 (very common helmet). The space between your face and the front of the helmet is very small. I have spent a lot of time and money testing out every option and i concluded the wired setup is the only one that works with the RF-1400. The DJI mic 2 alone barely fits inside the helmet because it's too big so the clamp shown in the video won't fit at all. I even got the new Mic Mini because of that reason and even though it does fit inside the helmet you can only go down to -12DB, works great at low speeds but after 60mph on the freeway it clips like crazy. Visor down, vent closed, that says a lot due to Shoei's insane wind reduction helmets.
@simonaleman694610 сағат бұрын
i did it with the rf1400 yesterday no problems. The problem was that my dji mic mini caught too much wind noise and clipping. So today i tried again with the mic minis inside a backpackn and was able to get nice exhaust sound on freeway. But took me 15 trys. And like you said, inside the helmet the mic clips like crazy even at -12

Hi Chase, I noticed that you've got -18 db for the wireless setting. My firmwares are all up to date with the mic 2 and the DJI OA5Pro but it only maxed out at -12. Is there something wrong with mine unit or is there an option I need to enable?

@kittipong.ngamjing18 сағат бұрын
@@chaseontwowheels Thank you for replying. Yes, or at least I think its the same. The wireless interface is different from the one shown in your video. I have my OS5pro connected to 2 DJI mic 2, Channel on stereo, lowcut on both, no noise reduction. Both of them only allow -12 DB gain. (After some researching, I found that the -20 DB is only available for wired connection and for when the Receiver is connected to the camera.) Is this different for you?

@@kittipong.ngamjing you are correct. Wireless setup only allow for minimum of -12db while wired setup allows for -18db. Not sure how anything past -12db was achieved on the wireless set up.

I have a wireless mic 2 coming tomorrow and this video got me overly excited for the audio quality.
