We would normally install custom tracks from Thule or Yakima to replace the factory rails.

Good video on how to remove the plastic covers however you didn’t explain that the bolts are thread locked in. A simple 12 mm ratchet did not work for me and the ratchet broke.

Hello. The thread lock from the factory is considered removable, comparable to Loctite 242, there is resistance removing the fasteners but it is doable. Hope you'll get a new ratchet and try again with success. Thanks!

We get this question a lot actually. And I always tell people, we wouldn't offer the service if we needed to replace people's roofs. So the short answer is no, there should be no leakage.

Yes. I'm removing my side rails as soon as my Rail Delete kit arrives in the mail. My 2015 Toyota Rav 4 has been leaking from these bolt holes for a while now.

What if you've lost the brackets inside the roof accidentally? The back passenger side fell into the hole and now bolts won't grab!

Hello. In this situation, it is likely necessary to have to remove interior panels to gain access to the bracket.

Hello. The original gasketed bolts could be put back in place, this may require a spacer to prevent the bolt from bottom out. Thanks!
