This is extremely helpful. I collected a large amount of data over several weeks of a mosaic of Orion, and at some point the image train must have been disturbed slightly and the flats didn’t correct some of the earlier subs. The clone stamp tool didn’t work. Looking forward to trying this out.

Nice tutorial. I have 40 light frames of the M16. And a week later I had more time to shoot the flats. But the dust that I saw in my light frames didn't show up in the flats. Everything was good in the flats, temperature, focus and ADU. But your solution is a good way to solve my problem. Thanks

This was a terrific tutorial for dealing with flat calibration issues, such as outdated library flats. I have just the data to try this on, lol. Really glad I caught this, it could change my whole outlook on the "risks" of remote imaging data - use of library flats. I don't suppose the same issue exists for remote hosting, though.
