I was this year old when i learned how to remove an endcap! Appreciate, you teached me well.

Thanks for your method. I was able to follow it and remove my end caps from my Roval wheels. Those end caps were super tight. With persistence, I was able to slowly wiggle them out.

Thanks a lot. For the sake of cleaning removed my rear wheel - a Mavic cross ride disc - from the bike frame. The wheel is held in place ba a quick release device. With the wheel in my hands I was shocked by the fact that the whole sprocket cassette was laterally loose, I could move it from side to side by about 1 cm. Never seen this before. Up to this date I had no notion of end caps and what they are good for. So I was upset, wanted to understand what was wrong and started to look for some kind of support. Finally I found your video and I'm very thankful for it. It looks like my end cap on the non-drive side somehow slipped outwards. While holding the drive side end of the axle against the surface of a wooden table I just gave the end cap of the non-drive side a blow with my bare hand. I heard like a latching noise and it looks like that was the solution. Now I can't move my cassette back and forth any more. I'm now so happy, thanks! Is the end cap on the non-drive side held only by friction and is there a possibility that it may slide outwards on its own again?
@mountainbikingforlife4158 Жыл бұрын
Glad you found the vid helpful. You are correct. Non drive is friction. I check mine when i take the wheel off. Should be an issue as long as the thru axle.is snug enough.

Do you have a video how to remove the Rolling Cave out of the wheel?
@DarrellRussell-t4n3 күн бұрын
I'd add if people are still having issues getting the drive side cap off - use heat, I don't have an actual heat gun so instead carefully poured hot water onto the end cap (holding the wheel upright and careful not to pout water on myself or the rest of the wheel). I had wrapped some cloth towelling around the hub to try and keep the hot water away from everything but the end cap. Then used pliers to pull the end cap off. Worked first go.

To remove the end cap on the rotor side of the back wheel, do i have to remove the rotor?
@Themilkmanskid.5 ай бұрын
NM got it. thanks! yes i removed the rotor to get the end cap off. Needs cleaning in there and i'm going to use Park tool HP grease to grease the end cap. i'm not buying DT Swiss universal grease for that. hope i'll be okay.

Hey dude! thank you for the video! I have a pair of duroc sd 42 and I am unable to take out the caps on the fwd wheel. are longer than in the models I am used to deal with from the bikes I have owned. Do you have any experience with this models? thank you and send my best regards.
@mountainbikingforlife4158 Жыл бұрын
Haven't had experience with this wheel. Unior makes a hub genie that tightens on the inside and allows for a tighter fit and better leverage. My just pop off so I havent used this tool and a bit pricey.

why do my wheels have a slight play when installed in the fork. the caps are loose but the bearings are not. am I missing some thing?
@mountainbikingforlife4158 Жыл бұрын
Check the size of your end caps. The tolerances are fairly tight for the width of your fork.

No idea whether anyone will get this as a message for help BUT what should be a easy job is turning out to be a head scratcher as my hub seals are threaded.. I had to use 20mm spanner and an adjustable wrench.. and so on one side the cover was removed exposing the sealed bearings... Have attempted to hit this side with a rubber mallet to knock it through and out the other side but it does not budge do I hit much harder??? Dont want to damage anything.
@mountainbikingforlife41585 ай бұрын
@@zylonB Do you have a quick release skrewer or thru axle. Also. What is the brand of hub.
@zylonB4 ай бұрын
@@mountainbikingforlife4158 Thru axle type and the hub is not marked with a logo it would be better if I could take pics and upload them to you. As I say the protective cap was removed from one side by using 2x 20mm spanners on each side.. only the one side came off. So now all I can do is spin the whole axle and looking at the side with the cap off exposing the sealed bearings the outside of the axle is threaded at least as far down/in to the hub.. no idea if this threading goes all the way through to the other side?? I have just seen a Ytube video showing very similar splines on the inside of the axle and they used a bearings extractor which is seated inside gripping the splines etc using the tool to get the bearings out but again what I saw was not exactly the same.. thinking I need to spend some money on gettin an extractor then I need to get the press... or I could just take the wheel into a cycle shop.. no idea what they may charge ??

what if i am missing and endcap its gone. Is it safe? I just see the hole and bunch of grease there. My axle wont move in any direction, lever on other end just spins
@mountainbikingforlife41587 ай бұрын
You need end caps to take up the space between the fork and wheel. Dont ride without them.
