First question: what camera are you using? Could be artifacts in the codec!

Having scoured youtube for in-depth green screen / keying tutorials, this is by far the best I have seen. After watching a dozen or so, I can say that many of the most popular channels do not even come close. The scene integration is the crucial part that no other tutoiral takes the time to explain. It's what makes the effect work.

Wow!! That is so great to hear!! Thanks a lot Ben!!

I second that. The very fact that he actually EXPLAINS the different parameters makes a world of difference.

I am always ending up with a dark edge along the subject. The hair I can get back with the details. but with like the shoulders, etc. there is a dark edge. I am shooting in ProRes 422, should be fine for color depth.

Hmmm without seeing your result I can think of 3 mistakes, or 3 reasons why this happens. 1. your green is too dark! If you have a bright BG later on, it makes sense to also have the green a little bit brighter, as those fine details or semi-transparent parts already mix with a lighter color! 2. you could use a rim light if your BG allows it. 3.you could try to not use the "final" setting within keylight, but the intermediate, or try to unpremult! And after all, you should think about creating a light wrap around your subject! One last thing: red parts are always tricky against green, as red is on the exact opposit of the color wheel! so by getting rid of the green you add that to red! so you could try a bluescreen, when having too much saturated reds in your shot! Let me know if that helps? And last but not least: for most of the keys you are doing, you will need different settings on different parts of the image...

I watched a lot of tutorials on this topic trying to key my footage and tried them out. This was the best!

It was really helpfull!!, and u are very good at explaining...im trying to do some work with a green morphsuit. that would be also a very good tutorial and a very needed one since nobody really has explained how to keylight a morphsuit.
@flo.motion3 жыл бұрын
Oh, morphing a green suite is basically the same like keying a greenscreen, but you need to be a bit more aggressive on it, as it wont' be lit as well as a greenscreen, simply because it is not flat. Have you watched my advanced keying tutorial? There I explain how to create a "core" key! That should be your workflow on this!!

Thank you for your great videos. We made our first green screen music video for our song, 'Catalogue Model' using your tutorials. Our green screen was actually really bad but in the end we managed! THANK YOU and ROCK ON!! 👊

Hi , are there other professional robust standalone software that I can use for my still photography green-screen work that offers the same type of functionality as the After Effects “Keylight Plugin”. I only shoot stills not video and don’t want to pay a premium $$$ for AF just to use their Keylight Plugin for my green screen work if I don't have to.
