Nothing more relaxing than watching someone else working - the music was enough to make me doze off multiple times :-) and it was useful watching you reusing the media. I guess the paint and rust blows away as dust.

I know how satisfying this was to watch - I can only imagine how much so it was to do, and see the results happening before you. ...and I guess I know what I'll be humming for the rest of the day. 🤪 My first learning vehicle was a '62 1/2 ton, although I prefer the sleeker '64-66. Thanks for the video!

Found your channel because of the blast cabinet mods . Found this very enjoyable as mine is a home made cabinet blaster and to get anything decent for flow it's best to pulse the gun . Seriously looking at changing from syphon to media valve feed .. love the way you did the hood . It maybe a 2 millimetre line each time but its quicker than a 5mm round spot. Have subscribed tonight so I can find and watch more . Thanks from the UK.

Don't forget to mention that the day temperatures reach 35+ degrees Celsius, along with all of the smoke in the air from the forest fires in the valley, while you do this outside. Great job!

new subscriber here! How many hours did it take to blast the entire hood, inside and out? I think some kind of vertical CNC machine to hold the nozzle where one could set the parameters and sit back with a cold one and watch it happen would be a money maker. Great job!

Why was it necessary to remove all the paint? Most of it appeared to be sound.

How do you keep the parts from rusting across several days of the work, doesn't the bare metal begin to rust almost immediately?
@GregWellwood Жыл бұрын
I live in Canada's desert - there is very little moisture in the air. There are spray-on solutions you can use to protect the metal (I can't remember their names), but I've never used them.

This is addressed on your similar question in the Sand Blaster video. Thanks for your input.

HUH... All the blasting I've done and it never sounded anything like that! I mastered the technique or I was using the wrong media... ;)

Did it warp it at all?

I saw no evidence of any once primered, but I might not have a good eye for that. I ran 50psi, 2.0mm tip, my compressor is 14.5cfm, and I use well-used crushed glass.

Great stuff, how many nozzles did you go through?
@GregWellwood3 жыл бұрын
I'm still on the second nozzle. The first nozzle blasted the doors, cab rockers/floor, hood, front fenders, nose, and the entire bed, all inside and out. They last pretty reasonably.

I enjoy this a lot more when I’m not the one doing it. I’m still finding sand on my person from a car I blasted in high school. Well done, sir! Is it your intent to strip the entire vehicle in this manner?
@GregWellwood3 жыл бұрын
Yes, my summer goal is to have the entire truck blasted and primed. Then spend this coming school year prepping for painting next summer.
