Yeah, so Dreadnought probably got away with needing a little touch up paint and a few rivets replaced and I'm pretty sure the sub was split in two.

Atleast the CVs has to come to dmg you and u can see their planes.... Subs are skill issue going dark and popping at 2 km like real retarder but killing you cuz they have laser torpedos and a lot of HP cuz Anti subs charges are useless in this game.... Ramming was a surprisingly common tactic for dealing with submarines at periscope depth. You’d better be okay with going into dry dock for a few weeks, though, because usually you sprung bow plates and scraped the sonar off the bottom of the hull.

Homing is the only thing that requires removal, atleast for tier 6 because it just wasnt there at that time, and when the germans ACTUALLY had homing torpedoes by the 40s, no one else did, and the homing was very minimal, the torps couldnt just do a U turn to hit their targets like they do ingame. The submarines are being implemented to make the game more strategic and slow, which means that the game is less about who has the better ship but who is patient enough to have restraint in the correct situations.

IIRC the Germans had wake homing torpedoes already working by the 1940... Which then got stolen and reverse engineered by the Soviets.

It's refreshing to see a destroyer actually destroy a sub that close in, i'd have shit myself if that happened to me. Far too often you see them hiding behind other ships or doing gunboat things - which is fine but there's me lurking at periscope depth just at the edge of detectability already having launched torpedoes waiting to ping at the last moment. End result being a sunk DD and pretty good too since those are my biggest enemies, including for some reason Delhis and Hobarts. It's also quite amusing that since i came in with a badger invite code i have him as a captain and promptly stuck him in Cachalot my beloved. He also said he won't associate with anyone who plays CVs or submarines.

In Wows, submarines have 200% potential compared to reality. And that's why: 1. In reality, the surface speed in most cases was about 20 knots, and the underwater one was only 8 knots. 2. To fire torpedoes at an enemy ship, you had to calculate its course, speed, distance and length with a draft. If an enemy ship suddenly changed its speed or course, then it is very likely that you would miss. 3. Sonar and ASDIC, you will not hide from them even at maximum depth if you go at full speed. Only diving to a depth of 150 meters or more and a stop of engines, along with the dead silence of your crew, could increase your chances that enemy ships with sonar would not hear you. 4. In reality, the submarine could dive underwater in about 25 seconds (with a well-trained crew). And as a result, it turns out that in reality the submarine was very fragile and slow, and its only advantages were a large number of torpedoes and relative (if not detected by corvettes and destroyers) invisibility. Actually, that's why they were mainly used to sink merchant ships, and for the same reasons, Germany lost 766 submarines out of 1,156 built, as well as 80% of the sailors who served in the submarine fleet.

Torpedoes don’t shoot straight forward. Even in ww2 submarines would have a TDC installed that can tell the torpedo set parameters to set itself to after the launch, including an change in bearing

Alternative idea: Buff destroyers to have a strong 75 to 85 percent resistance to homing torpedos and their damage. Along with lower ping time against destroyers. This will make Destroyers really clean house on submarines! And thus, Submarine lovers will need to pair up with a cruiser buddy. So the submarine can keep doing their bs to the enemy team.
