Just did it in 2 seconds. Excellent advice. I’ve done this before years ago with BAD advice from you tubers and wrestled the dang magazine for 20 minutes and wanted to scream. Thanks for the tip!!!!

This worked for me on a 16-round mag. I'm a 47 year old women and I have normal hanged strength. I used and I used an old allen wrench I had.

Just did three magazines in three minutes. No pliers and no wrestling. Small philips head screwdriver, shoved it down and pushed forward. Changed the bases in seconds. Thank you very much! There are still videos showing compression, they should watch this.

Using this method right now to update the followers in (5) of my mags to the 9mm3 version. Work's like a damn charm, man. Currently using a 3/32 punch and a little finesse before I pry it forward

Worked great for one of my mags, so thanks for the advice. The second magazine I was replacing the plate on the inner locking plate ended up dislodging and tumbling down into the magazine. I took my brass punch (same size, slightly softer) and one tap to the back of the plate knocked it forward. It's a little riskier, but at least that works as a good backup and is way better that using pliers.

This definitely works! My only suggestion would be to use a thicker punch like a 1/8" so you don't bend your punches unless you know your punches are made of hardened steel.

So after the glock tool bends like a coat hanger and the detent plate goes perpendicular what do you recommend? Done it twice and have watched a half dozen videos on how to do it without pliers or c clamp.
@thetacticalagenda8753 жыл бұрын
At that point try to find something to pull from the hole outward with a lot of force. If not may have to c clamp it

This wont work on 10 rpunder..you cant push down over spring plate.as 10 round is not staggered but center stack
@raymondpearson42683 жыл бұрын
The way I did it on the 10 rounder all you have to do is put it in a vise trust me I did it wrap a tile put the corners and a vise push it back in there just the top part I mean the bottom part squeeze the corners while pushing down on the middle button and it will hold it all in place even the spring and the base plate comes off

This saved my hands from potential arthritis down the road. Wish I knew about this before I added mag extensions to 12 different glock mags 💩
@taliawtf69443 жыл бұрын
Given the way it's made I doubt the mag was actually made to be taken apart at all, which would be the business smart thing to do as you would be forced to just buy a new one should something happen. Speaking of I have a mag that is brand new but the follower gets stuck and jams up the rounds. Would love to see what is going on in the mag but I can't remove the base plate without completely wrecking it. -_-

The Glock tool is 3/32" not 1/16. This method may work with magazines that have been disassembled a few time but if you try it with a brand new magazine you will bend your Glock tool before the baseplate moves a hair.

I'd suggest a simple OEM Glock tool for any Glock pistol owner or officer/deputy issued a Glock model. I bought 1 in 2022. Note: I've used G Tul mag tools since the 2010s. Simple, no fuss, no scuffs.

@robertdennis5504 жыл бұрын
It will come off, you have to give it some major juice. I have a Glock 17 that is only 4 months old and after shooting USPSA and doing mag changes in sand, I needed to clean my magazines out. The first one I did, I didn't think I could get it off but after really putting some muscle into it, it came of. The other 3 after that were easier to do since I knew what I had to do. Keep trying, you'll get it.
@raymondpearson42683 жыл бұрын
Use a vice put it in a vise grip just the bottom half make sure the rabbit tile around it and slowly tighten and if you cannot get the button depressed take a punch and press in hold it in while tightening on the device

You’re AWESOME man!... only possibly ruined 2 of my 3, G19-gen5 clips that it came with before I even got to use it.. because I can’t get the bases off them but the button will not return for me to start over from the beginning with your technique/PRICELESS ADVICE! Any suggestions, anyone?
@raymondpearson42683 жыл бұрын
put it in a vice slowly tighten while pressing down on the button hold it down until the button doesn't want to come off anymore tap from the other side with a flathead screwdriver and it will slowly take the plate off make sure it doesn't pop up on you but mind held tight enough that it didn't spring back until I took the tension off just the bottom half you got to kind of corner it in a vice trust me it works take your time turn slowly tighten slowly

And did I mention I got the 10 rounder base plate off everyone seems to find it impossible to do
@mmerriken2 жыл бұрын
These instructions worked great! I will say, however, that I had to use a 1/8 inch punch, the 1/16 bent with the effort needed to overcome the little side tab, and my punch is hardened as well. Looking more closely at you punch, it appears to me you used a 1/8 punch as well, not a 1/16.

man i already replaced my baseplates and no the mags dont fit with my flared magwell so im trying to go back to oem but that detent spring or whatever wont compress at all like I cant shove a punch in more than an 1/8th of on inch feels like I would need a hammer to get it down in there any further
