Removing a sports hologram sticker from a game case!

Was going to buy some 1.99 football games to use as replacement cases and remembered they put stupid stickers on them. Seems like even at 1.99 the hassle removing the sticker isn’t worth it. Lol

Oh yeah it's currently in this weird place where the pricing has to work out well. I have a local store that lets me snag sports cases at 4/$1. So it's worth it to remove the stickers, but much higher than that and I'd be losing money on labor alone! 😄

For PS3 sport games are definitely the cheapest but move starter disc and other move games can be extremely cheap as well

Goo Gone works perfectly for me. Helps to get just a tiny bit of finger nail working the corners, let the whole thing just soak in Goo Gone for 10 mins and then go for those starter edges again. It'll peel right off, no resistance at all. Then I just let the underlying residue soak again and wipe away, no scraping necessary. Just speaking from my own experience.

Oh I love GooGone, don't get me wrong. Sometimes it takes a little longer than heptane might, and sometimes heat works better than both. You'll notice I tend to make a video showing off GooGone, then the same video featuring Heptane. Since both have their pros and cons.

hey have you got any way to remove stickers like this (such as the ones on pal ps1 cases) while keeping the sticker intact enough to reapply ? i have some good ps1 with terrible stickers and terrible ps1 games with mint stickers.

I do! Two methods actually. One involves heptane and the other involves low heat from a hair dryer. The heptane method works considerably better, but heptane is harder to source. The biggest trick about removing stickers to replace them is to stabalize the sticker. So cut a piece of cardstock the exact size of the sticker, and press that piece of cardstock against the sticker as you remove it. This will prevent the sticker from curling. I have a few sports games that I can use to show this method, but it does take some practice to get it right. Once the sticker is removed, it's just a matter of reapplying the sticker (if you used heptane it wil be sticky enough, if you used heat it might be sticky enough, but may require a dot of spray adhesive). When you reapply the sticker you'll want to start at one corner, press down on the sticker and cardstock and squeeze it flat. Although I'm now realizing that I'm pretty terrible at explaining things through words, so I'll make a video.

Just bought 10 PS4 cases on amazon, all of which had this kind of sticker. Sliding a card in is a good tip, because the stickers are over a cavity, making them harder to remove otherwise. Additional tip: Warming up the sticker with a hairdryer will make it easier to remove it in one go, because it softens up the adhesive. I assume that putting the cases in an oven at ~60°C for a while, would be a more controlled way of achieving the same effect, if you're to nervous to use a hairdryer on the plastic case (though I haven't tested this myself).

I've used ovens in the past, and have considered making an oven video, my only challenge is the inconsistencies when it comes to oven temps and the dangers that come from putting plastics in the oven. But who knows, we mght see a video like that in the near future!

Will isopropyl alcohol work as well as heptane? I'm honestly not sure what heptane is or where to get it

Nope, they work a bit different. You can do the same thing with GooGone, but you'll want to wipe off the excess GooGone as you work (and it'll take a bit longer to do, the GooGone is thicker so it has to work its way under the sticker!)

I'll admit: I went into this video with an eyeroll. "Who takes 23 minutes to remove a sticker from a case?" Roughly an hour later (mostly thank to your tips) I've got two cases in great condition sans NBA stickers.

I know some people hate the lengths, but I love tutorials where you can do it in real time, so I'm sticking to my guns! 😄 But yeah now that you know the process you can strip those stickers a lot faster than you'd think!

It's so stupid they put that kind of stickers on Sports Games. Would make a perfect Spare Box to change with a damaged one, because most of the Games are that cheap, that you can throw away the Game (or sell it without a box) and still have a box. Even with the idea of remove the Sticker, you always risk damaging the Box and also the time it needs to do that with many boxes. And even if you completly remove it, you will see that there was a Sticker on it. Well, EA and FIFA stay useless and is not even usefull as using the box for other Games. (Specialy PS4 Game Boxes that are really weak if it comes to breaking )

It was so damaged it turned blue!! Or all DVD cases to me are PS2 cases. White DVD case? That's a PS2 case. Green? PS2!
