Wilson Construction Company removed an osprey nest perched on a center field light pole at Canby High School’s baseball field. The nest was inactive, but it was important to safely remove the nest before nesting season begins in April.
“That’s one of the reasons we wanted to get out here before they got back-to take it down before there was any other activity,” said Brandon Hawkins, Wilson’s environmental director. “Some of the sticks were pretty large. I think the largest one we measured was about six-foot tall.”
Wilson employees Nickolas Wilkinson and Terry Lowen used a bucket truck to reach the nest. Wilson typically uses these bucket trucks to build and maintain powerlines across the country. But they were happy to help out the local high school in time for baseball season.
With headquarters in Canby, Oregon, Wilson performs electrical utility construction projects nationwide.
