In this video I am giving my 1962 Land Rover a proper introduction and removing it's gearbox to investigate an oil leak.

Ah KZbin algorithm, you've accidentally recommended something relevant to me for once. I stumbled across this video and absolutely love it as a Land rover series lover/owner myself. Love the style of video, please more videos like this

I had my Series 3 gearbox refurbed and replaced in 2020 by some professionals who made a right mess of the job. Broke a wing mirror. Lost the Hi-lo knob. Didn't replace the 2/4WD selector lever spring. Reconnected the fuel gauge wrong. Two weeks later I lost all drive, jiggle jiggle, managed to get low range engaged and limped home. They took it back and spent six weeks fixing it up - but in their favour the boss did sack the bloke who did the work. Its back with a proper vintage resto firm this year getting the engine, bodywork, and chassis sorted out. It'll be 40 next year... Happy trails!

Very nice Landy mate. Like the dark grey, all lot of mine is gloss black underneath ( thrown oil from the back diff!) Working your way through all the components takes quite a while, but it just gets better. Amazing how shagged they can be and still go. Hence the reputation old rovers have I suppose. It’s certainly not how they CAN be, so long as you don’t expect them to be radically different from the design parameters, they’re bloody brilliant Good work

Hi Dudley thanks for a great video! ... just starting a full strip down of my new ! 51 year old series 2a swb landrover ... becoming self taught but ever attempted anything like it ! Would you mind letting me know who shotblasted and galvanised your chassis and bulkhead . Cheers Matt
@dudleyhewett72113 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Matt. The chassis work was done by Decorrosion Services Limited, Littleton Lane, Shepperton. I actually made a mistake in the video, the chassis was hot-zink sprayed rather than galvanised and they did a beautiful job. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻

Hi Kasper. I used an AutoSparks loom. I think it cost about £230 and was worth every penny. It was very well made and had all the correct connectors on it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

These used in England must be fairly reasonable to buy and fix up. I found a few in the United States but they where like 40 to 80k way too much.

Old Land Rovers are very easy to find in the uk. Even the worst condition ones are now worth around £1,000 with a registration. I only paid £250 for mine. It cost £3,000 and took three years to rebuild but it’s worth around £8,000 today. The finest examples can be £40,000 but they’re too perfect and shiny. I like mine the way it is. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
