This was a rare youtube video indeed. It was helpful, concise, and the tip literally worked on the first try. Pry up with a screw driver, spray a bit of wd-40, wiggle the grip off. Worked in seconds. A++

Howdy Lewie! I had to take a week of furlough on my day job, so this week was spent fishing almost every day. Caught some trout on a 3 day trip with my wife, and spent some time on the river catching catfish. I'm going back out today on the river, just for a nice cruise. If you have access to air. Use air nozzle and blow air between bar and grip.10 seconds off,10 seconds on. No lube.no mess. Wrap grip with rag if grip in not enclosed.

Now a tutorial on how to install grips on a bike without having them slide off and have you wipe out and face plant over the handle bars would be in order lmao 🤣🤣🤣

To help you out with that, I would suggest using hand sanitizer. it stays lubed long enough to slide the grips on, and then evaporates and dries out. Works great.

Thanks bro., this worked where many other videos did not. I had a very difficult grip to get off. And this method managed to get it off and just a matter of minutes after trying for almost a half hour. Thanks for the tip.

Thx.phil,I just finished watching all your current posts. Very straightforward demonstrations. Suggest you do several on the removal of the chainsets and alignment of gears....as the ones I currently found are pretty useless. I do not ask for my own benefit,but for all the moms and dads who end up paying somebody to do what could be a very simple task after watching YOU. Keep up the good work.

I got my bike in 2018 and my grips are beginning to slip off on their own i don’t know if it’s because of aging but during rides i find myself pushing them back in when I feel them slipping

clean all contacts with soap and water and allow to dry

Did 2 sets this week. First before I saw your video - used water as a lube - a lot of effort and time. Second just now - much much easier - thanks for the tip. Btw both times I used 2mm and 3mm Allen Keys instead of the screwdriver - trying to avoid damaging the bars.

Mustie1 would slap a high-pressure air nozzle wrapped in a rag under that dust cap. Right between the metal and the rubber which seems to loosen and float the grip. I have seen this done and it would have blown my mind as a kid when I needed the trick the most.
