I feel you. Im currently replacing the rear axle on my honda civic in my garage and the rusted bolts are truly a pain in the ass :/ Those brackets at 8:05 arent coming off and im thinking of just cutting them off and making new ones im not sure

Definitely a pain in the ass 👍 Yeah that might be easier. Are there any scrap yards about where you could get the brackets for a few £ ?
@roberts27602 жыл бұрын
@@ModFix I live in Latvia and there aren't that many scrap yards around here, but i already made new brackets, it's fine.

Great vid, but sorry to tell you, the new beam is for a 1.4,1.8 and 2.2 diesel. Type R rear beam is much thicker with a thicker torsion bar and extra swinging arm surport brackets.
@ModFix3 жыл бұрын
Oh no. I had my suspicions. Typical. Was advertised as Tyre R beam 😠 Do you know if it still fits? I was thinking I could add an anti roll bar to stiffen the rear up.
@nikjanet3 жыл бұрын
@@ModFix it will still fit. Just not as stiff as the type R version. I have a Whiteline rear roll bar and it almost eliminates understeer.

Thanks for the reply's buddy. It's much appreciated. I'm such a numpty sometimes. I should have gone with my gut and returned it. Hopefully the ARB will sort it out. Did you have issues with the white line brackets being the wrong size?
@FN2OPS3 жыл бұрын
@@ModFix the white line ARB makes a huge difference. If you put it in tha hardest setting it will compensate the lack of stiffness of that beam. If I had to replace a beam I would use a FK2 one.

@@FN2OPS Cool, thanks. I'm just arguing with the seller at the moment. He is adamant it's a Type R beam but I'm sure he would say that

Hi mate, I know this is an old video. I need to take rear beam off my old car and put it on "new" civic. Any special tools needed and should I be able to get it done in a weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
@ModFix2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Are you changing the bushes as they would need some extra tools? It it's just the beam, I don't remember using any special tools apart from brake pipe spanners. A couple of trolley jacks would be useful. 👍

@@ModFix no just removing from one car, and fitting it to another car. Same year, model, engine etc. Will give it ago this weekend. Thanks for the reply. Just needed reassuring. Take it easy!

Thanks buddy. It appears that I may have got a non Type R beam ( even though it was sold as a Type R beam). Just ordered a rear ARB to make up for a less rigid beam. Might as well do it now while it's off. Why's nothing ever easy!! 😂

@@ModFix Ah bugger, i had no idea they were different to be honest. could you not get the originally shot blasted and powder coated?
@ModFix3 жыл бұрын
I'm just mid dispute with the eBay seller. He reckons he has sold 500 of these to typeR owners. Probably talking out his arse. I'm going to fit the new beam. I did measure it beforehand and it was the same dimensions as the original one. I will refurbish the old one to keep as a spare
