Removing Rust on DODGE POWER WAGON - Restoration Part 2

I removed all the rust and old paint from this Vintage 1951 Dodge Power Wagon truck using an angle grinder, electric sander, wire brush, and EVAPO-RUST. I got both fenders, the hood, and the headlights back down to the original bare metal. This is Part 2 of the restoration series, so if you like these videos make sure to subscribe!

I like the Patina look myself you just can't get that look anywhere and the look of the Power Wagon itself just goes great with the patina look

I bought a handheld sandblasted, similar to a pair sprayer, that attaches to my air compressor. I haven’t used it yet so I can’t report on success/failure. It accepts several media. Could be a good rust/paint removal option for you.

Yeah I've seen a lot of people have those little sandblasting chambers too. I ended up having the whole cab and bed sides sandblasted to save time

watch videos on paint prep. "my friend Pete" is a good one, lot of right imformation. Go to your auto paint store talk to sales help they have a lot of paint school knowledge on what works Get as large of compressor as you can afford 8 to 10 horse power this is BIG !

take all the paint off todays paint will wrinkle old paint so it all has to come off prepping is slow and hard work. And boy it feels good when your done

Thank you for this input. I have heard so many different opinions on this. The parts I have done since I have tried to get down to clean shiny metal. I just bought a bed and it is in really rough shape so I think eventually media blasting the cab and the bed. I am not sure what to do with some of the parts now that I have them primed with rattle can spray paint. What if I sprayed black spray paint on the fenders over the primer, do you think a professional could still spray over it later or would the spray paint have to be taken back off? It's never going to be anywhere near perfect but don't want to make big mistakes now like spray painting over the primer that really affects me down the road. Any advice would be much appreciated as I have no idea what I am doing :)

I think paint stripper would have been easier.

Me too! I couldn't find any good stripper that bubbles the paint off in California. No one will ship the good stuff here either.
