Removing Silicone RTV From Paint | Car Detailing Nightmare we have to carefully remove this from the paint when trying to debadge this ram 1500 pickup truck we found that instead of someone using double sided tape they used black rtv which is gas and oil resistant making it nearly impossible to break down to remove. Luckily we came up with a way to remove this from the paint without damaging it and was able to polish the paint to its original finish.

I totally get it, man, the stupid burns so badly at times with lame stuff that jackwagons like this will do! I was going to suggest using a plastic ice scraper, but chances of finding that in FL would be slim and none......but looks like the plastic razor will serve the same purpose nicely. Omg ur a lifesaver. Im gonna try this on my yamaha r1. The idiot owner before me used silicone rtv and superglue to stick a reflector decal across the rim and ive been really pissed that i couldnt get it off

I got a off the subject question, i have 2014 ram 1500 5.7L v8 Hemi stock wheels 20" i did purchase new wheels with a -6mm offset was wondering how much will it stick out from the fender and was wondering about fender flares? NOT trying to make my 4×2 look like a 4×4 just trying to beef it up a little

I do use a steam portable cleaner for detaching those glued things, working perfectly for me (but does it damage the pain with the heat?).

Did you try a heat gun? looks like the same stuff ford used and heat will loosen it.

Use WD-40 and the plastic razor it works real well for removing tape residue and cleans up easily

3M Solid Eraser Wheel, used correctly will do it in 1/4 the time. You use the edge of the wheel, not the full side and keep it moving.

I've been doing this on emergency vehicles for over 28 years that have had graphics and emblems on some of them for 10 plus years and installed with all kinds of adhesives. Just because you know some hacks doesn't make me untrustworthy. But you'll get your 5 mins.

Who knows? Those factory badges when put on brand new have double sided tape on it and ones put on then removed could only be used once then you would have to buy new factory oem badges or emblems unless you go cheap and cement them on like what the last owner did on this truck which is not idea.

You can use a heat gun, as long as you keep the gun moving and not concentrating it one place.
