(It is just the cover, I do not have a tankless coil as I get my domestic hot water from an indirect tank). Would you proactively change out your cover plate during to visible corrosion without any active leaking? The benefit I see is to change out the plate before the bolts become too corroded and snap. The risk is that I snap the bolts in the process when my boiler was working perfectly fine! I haven’t done this work before so I would greatly appreciate your input! Thanks!!

@@idothings6605 I just shut off my furnace for now from supplying domestic hot water, because I installed a Hybrid water heater to save money on filling my oil tank, especially during the warm weather. I spent 1100 to fill the damn tank and it's always lasted 6 months and then I had to fill it up again in the warm weather and just used for domestic hot water. (What a wasted of money when hybrid water heater will cost me around 100 maybe a bit more to heat up water during that warm season.) Made sense for me to spend more money on a super efficient water heater and not use any oil for half the year. That's 1100 plus 3/4 of what a basic water heater to heat the water would cost me. Anyway, for now I have the furnace shut off, but will need to disconnect the coil operation before I turn it back on for the cold weather. I was told pressure builds up if the Aquastat calls for the high to close and low to open or vice versa when it needs to heat the water up in the boiler for domestic hot water. And to shut off the ball valve supplying water to the coil. But they weren't sure what needed to be done to bypass the operation of the Aquastat which has a few function as the brains of the furnace. It calls for the boiler to heat up the water for heating the house and moving the circulator pump and for the domestic hot water, since the Aquastats used for domestic hot water are triple functioning device. I thought about switching the Aquastat to a Honeywell 8148A which is only used for heating the home. But still not clear on the right way. It seems you mentioned your furnace wasn't running as good after you cut the pipes and stopped using the coil for a while. My question is does anyone know how to properly disconnect the coil with or with out removing it and being certain the Aquastat is working as it should and not causing other problems after eliminating the coil function for domestic hot water? One video I watched mentioned to lower the low setting on the Aquastat to 130 to keep the furnace from turning on for domestic hot water. He also had cut the pipes and shut down the coil. That made some sense to me, but I'm no expert. From what I tried to learn is that the low setting of a Triple Aquastat (in my case a Honeywell L8124A) keeps the water temp low enough for domestic hot water with a mixing valve. And I guess keeping it low enough doesn't use as much oil in the colder months if your not using a furnace to get your drinking water and showers and wash etc with the coil.
