Just as a tip you can sand and weld a hex nut to the head of the carriage bolt rather than drill them out

You should see the wood used in mines. There are mines which are really dry from the middle of the 19th century where all the wood inside is still good. Looks like it did a 100 years ago and a hundred years ago it looked like it did fifty years before that. Quite amazing. You'll also find things like markers when a worker was killed or even just random stuff concerning the work of the day hand painted on the walls. Everything has been dry and dark since the time they were first dug.

Nice work. I would recommend power coating the frame. I tried on a motorcycle restore frame Rustoleum Spray cans but the paint seems soft even after 6 months since painted. It scratches easy and not as shiny. See if others suggest the same. Fame painting is the major base for the rest. Enjoy you videos. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comment! I decided to go with brush on Rustoleum enamel. It is a really thick oil based enamel, and if you want it to be hard you can add an enamel hardener to it. A professional model T restorer recommended this paint, he did his car with it 10 years ago and it still looks great. The paint will turn dull after a while, but you can't see the frame, so it won't matter for me. When I did some research, some people warned that powder coating can crack on a model T because the frames flex so much, and the powder coating is really brittle. Thanks for watching!

I wish you had shown how you actually removed the body in this episode instead of just the frame with it already removed. I am wondering how much weight the typical roadster body will have when it is removed, as well as the best way to actually take it off of the frame. A lot of your info works just as well on my 1925 roadster as I rebuild it or at least as I work through removing parts and such. Is the actual body removal a two-man job with the turtle deck already removed on it? Thanks.

It is a two man job, it is helpful to take out the steering column, but the motor is low enough that I can lift it over with a helper very easily. The body on a 26 or 27 is all steel structure, a 25 will have some wood structure and I have not done much with them, if it is rotten it might pose more problems. Happy Tinkering!

It appears we are doing very similar projects this year. Mine is a 26 and was in sad shape when I got it in May 2020....Just got the engine started today... Good luck with your T and if you need a laugh you can check out my T project on my Channel.
