Removing the Dash Bezel from my Dodge Challenger and Addressing Common Weight Reduction Comments

Need to remove the dash bezel from your Dodge Challenger? Look no further as this vid shows exactly how I remove the dash bezel from my 2020 Dodge Challenger 1320. Of course my reason for doing so is weight reduction, but whatever the reason the process is the same. For those interested in the weight reduction aspect, I then weigh up the dash bezel to show exactly how much weight you can save.
I don't stop there, in a scramble to find every pound I can to achieve my record, I look for other parts under the dash to remove. Since these are pretty minor items in the grand scheme of weight reduction mods, I decided to preemptively answer some common comments I tend to receive when it comes to the extent of weight reduction that I do on my car.

Totally agree with your logic, last week I finally got my super low option 1320 I ordered in May’s Vin to show on locator. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your journey to the 10s the smart way! I’ve learned from you about the foam in the body panels I despise & how to dismantle the interior which I will do to put in a weight adding cage but I’m gonna do upgrades & what driveline diet I can afford over time & learned from you the crash supports in alluminum. Been enjoying your videos for a long time. I’ve always wanted a Challenger TA. Just ordered one Saturday in Go mango as light as factory possible with three exceptions. Hood pins, SiriusXM, and power moonroof. Definitely won’t be going as in depth with weight reduction as you but the content has been very helpful, cheers.

I traded in my '21 1320 for a new '23 Jeep Rubicon. Got more than I paid for it. Only had 1,500 miles on it though. Never selling my '22 single seater 1320!

I ended up dumping mine before the rear axle. I’m kind of following your steps otherwise , just with a regular scat since there weren’t any 1320s local at the time.

How much does the car weigh before and what does it weigh now?

Fresh off the truck, it weighed 4140. Last time I weighed it on the morning I ran my 10.98 it weighed 3610

You will never convince me that pulling 50-60lbs of olastic out of the car makes any notable difference in performance.

That’s fine, I have no reason to convince you. But I will say this, if that weight didn’t matter, then how did I get my car with a stock 392 and a stock tune to run 10.9 second 1/4 miles?

@@Scavenger1320 super low DA, and weight reduction of course. My point is, pulling the flimsy pillar covers off, and a dash bezel won't make a notable difference. That could be easily eaten up with how much fuel you have in the tank, or if you had a big lunch. Each their own, but you've been at 10.9 for how long and you keep ripping shit out of the car with no return.

@@bigk5746 so you do admit it makes a difference, because there is no magic 500 pound lead weight that you can just remove, it takes a combination of a bunch of little things to add up to it. So yeah, on its own 5 pounds won’t make a difference, but 20 of those 5 pound things will. Also the things pulled in this vid were prior to me first breaking into the 10s. But as I said, I have no reason to convince you. In fact, the more people think like you the better it is for me. It means my record stands longer, it means it’ll be easier for me to always be one of, if not the quickest 392 at the track.

@@Scavenger1320 I never said weight reduction doesn't make a difference but when you have the car at it's very limit, and you pull a dash apart to get a 1lb plate out, I feel you are just being overkill and it's a joke. Also, if you got T Boned in that thing, you'd be so F'd up, it just isn't worth taking everything out of the car. In my opinion. If you put 30lbs back in the car, you wouldn't notice it.

@@Scavenger1320 You have a high 10 second 392, in LOW DA that is tin can gutted. Tens in 392 cars has been done over and over again. All motor, boosted, nitrous whatever - you don't have one of the fastest 392's, it's just a 392. So all that messing around pulling weight, taking away comfort, making the car undrivable and unlivable on the street seems foolish when you do a nice cam, and a drag pack and get the same results you are getting now. It's a micro record that no one cares about, it's only running 10's in low DA, and you butchered the car. All this to say it's a cool car, but this way of pulling weight and trying to go fast is wildly unnecessary.
