Removing the Front passenger Door on the W109.

Before welding in the next repair patch, I have to remove the front Passenger door to give me better access. I can then take the opportunity to inspect the window regulator and remove the wood trim for restoration.

They usually drain water next to the door rubber seal ,a bunch of slots along the bottom. The back doors on the bottom front are nearly always rusty. it's as if someone in the factory had sweaty hands and left a mark on the door skin before painting. A reasonable used door here in OZ is $450 because there very few W109s of either type. SEL doors hve different window frames . If you swap over the door from a 280SEL you have to weld on the W109 frame so you can use the chrome. And the chrome trim is glued on and damned hard to get off . The alloy framed window regulators are often bent ,and W114 parts fit. The steel framed regulators use a different switch and wiring and a 3 wire motor. . You can interchange but it requires a pair of relays to allow current reversal .

So are we saying that this car was originally white? And not blue? Due to finding the white color underneath door components and trim?

Yes Kenneth. Originally it was 050G white. A soft almost ivory white. I will be going back to that. Trying to keep it to the Original spec. Cheers John

@@mercedesmaintenance.6339 Very good! I agree since I like my cars to be all original too. Somebody paid a lot of money to completely change the color of that car to blue. The labor to spray inside the doors and all the other hidden areas must have cost a fortune. Great video.

maybe the doors were blue from new on another car then transplanted to this white car body and painted to match the doors
