Go get $10.00 worth of annual rye grass and spread it over the top. It germinates in 3 to 4 days, and will hold the soil until the bluegrass germinates.

And if you mow it before it seeds out it dies off and never comes back. We use annual rye or oats in all our highway seed mixes to get a quick germination and cover crop to get some root structure in the soil right away. Which one you use depends on the time of year and the soil temperature.

Yard looks great, really came a long way. A simple yet effective fix; get several straw bales (wheat/rye straw), break them open and shake out liberally over all the open dirt, this is a great method to limit the impact of falling rain as well as lessen the flow of water run off as the straw helps to slow down the water and add weight to the dirt helping to keep it in place. Lastly, no stakes and it naturally rots away allowing you to mow over it and lets the grass grow through. Hope this helps.

*Tip:* I always use non-woven thin "fiberglass" fabric to cover up after seeding lawn grass here in Sweden, Cole! It's used for vegetable gardens and I can find it up to 12 meter (40') wide, folded on very long rolls. Rain and sun seeps thru and it gets warmer under it! It's cheap and you can also get fasteners for its edges that is like laying D-shaped with 3 spikes down with a long "rebar type" in the middle. Very wind resistant. Everything is reusable after grass is 4" high under it and you roll up the fabric.

Maybe you could dig some plates down to block the water from going into the recently sown field? Lead it to the parts where the grass is growing and therefore can handle the water. I think about this as a temporary sulotion- just to give the newly sown grass time to get established?🤔 Or dig a good old fashion ditch along the left side( from the yard) to stop the water from flooding the road and the lawn on the right side? That is a permanent solution on a permanent problem.😊🤗

Would some sort of drainage system work? A channel parallel to the drive and a couple of buried pipes to drain the water under your grass? I agree that a lovely grass surface is beautiful.

I was thinking that was Irwin like! Hahaha Can't be sure with the American take on our accent though, could be attempting Pommy, Kiwi or Saffa. :-D

Have you thought about using square hay bales to create some temporary terrace to slow the water until the grass gets set in good? Cheap, easy and works.

I'm sure you will figure out how to divert the water somewhere else. Just an idea as a possible solution, bury a leach line of sufficient diameter and run it under. After all, it has been a ravine all your life and it may be easier than terraforming a bunch a land around It. Another great vid from the Cornstars that never cease to entertain me. Thank you.

Cole, put on a mix. A couple annuals, rye is good with a blend of perennials. The annual comes up quickly and holds the soil in while the perennials come up and root. In central illinois we use something called University Blend, sold ar DeBuhrs in Mattoon, illinois.

Wire coat hanger cut in length you want and bend to make large staple. That's how I held down plastic to control weeds.

You could dig a small ditch along the edge of your laneway going straight down to the road ditch. It should handle most of the water until your yard grows in thicker with grass. Than you can cover in the ditch after. Alot cheaper than the mat stuff.

Might try putting some landscape timbers or hay bales to divert water and slow the flow along the length of the driveway and place them on top of your grass mats. If you see any trenching after your first rain place a grass mat runner in that spot. We do this in construction zones along the highway to help with erosion. Good luck!

Cole, Cole, Cole...your home is so unique and beautiful.Surely you will put some perennial bushes in when the porch is finished.I completely agree that the rest of your real estate should be grass.Stay blessed. Oh, and with 3 million you should be able to sod the rest.😂😂😂😂
