I too have a hedge at the far end of my garden. My property borders with three neighbours in the back. One the neighbours asked us to cut down the trees as the wished to put up a fence. Problem was the other two neighbours did not want to replace the fence. Now 30years later the hedge is still there. It is well trimmed and only about two meters tall. The neighbour moved some time ago. 😊

I decided to remove my old garden from nature hedges and shrubs because my husband was reaching retirement age 7 years ago and arranging to do it in stages for ordering skip higher and removed the hedges and shrubs first thing next digging up my plants that I wanted to replant and then landscape the whole garden with membrane and gravel and small Acer trees and different varieties of buying different garden ornaments and finishing the different areas with different themes. It took about two full weeks to remove everything and then we gradually started planting new plants that are low maintenance plants that require some pruning and dead heads of flowers now we’re 71 years old and 65 years old but still can pop out of the house and a small bin in pruning shears in taking the front privet hedges down to knee high leaving the outside and removing the top and inside of the hedge in a new narrow hedge that takes one charge of rechargeable hedge trimmer. The back garden is mainly slab’s and artificial grass and a few small tubs planted with scented roses in the lower maintenance that was my first thought when approaching retirement.

Always sad to get rid of a hedge but this one is getting past its best! The customer remembers planting them as very tiny tree’s. I’ve been cutting this hedge for quite a few years now. It was starting to take over the garden!
