What do I do if the outer ring part will not turn counter-clockwise? I have 6 jets and they are all siliconed in place.. will not turn and I even tried using a wrench to twist it. How can I remove them without damaging the tub?? TY!
@BoyGenius-12 жыл бұрын
I think the key is to make sure you have cut the silicone well enough. Take a utility razor blade fully out of the knife, then carefully slide it behind the rings to remove the silicone connection as best as possible. You will be handling the blade with your bare hands so protect your hands with gloves if possible. Then try to twist the rings off again. Good luck.

This is very helpful. I would add that you might want to disconnect the electric supply to the jets for good.
@BoyGenius-14 жыл бұрын
Susan I guess I forgot to mention that. I did permanently disconnect though. Thank you for the kind comments.

@BoyGenius-14 жыл бұрын
KnHneeki I really don’t know. The tub was 12 years old at the time I decided to do this. I looked for markings before-hand with no luck. Sorry.

I don’t have the tools. Should I ask a plumber to do it for me?

That option could be expensive, but if you don’t feel comfortable you have to find someone you trust.

So I have seen videos like this i'm just browsing. I had to sign in because if you see this video and want to try this [please clean your tub and jets with a product like dep or bleach secondly use a dehumidifier and dry the internal parts out so you don't trap and grow mold after you seal your jets. A sponge is fine but water travels throughout the internal unit. So be patient get a dehumidifier clean your tub and jets,run that dehumidifier for at least a week I know its hard. But sitting in a tub knowing its not an incubator of mold, mildew and legionaries is just as important.
@BoyGenius-13 жыл бұрын
Just run bleach water through the day before, like I did. If your jets haven’t been used for a while there’s no way you are getting all that debris out. Killing the organic material inside, like I did, will work fine. The sponge is to hold a place for the sealant I used with foam for good measure. Everything is sealed now from all end, which leaves no room for oxygen. Pretty sure fire fix, if I do say so myself. That being said, your idea can add peace of mind also.

I am puzzled why it would be necessary if you were going to use this tub for plants in your garden why you would have to even bother removing these items. I must be missing something but it seems completely unnecessary.
@BoyGenius-13 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion. The term “garden tub” refers to a type of tub used for soaking...usually larger tubs without jets. So now we just have a large tub with smooth surfaces, without the jets in the way, or the jets being able to collect grime. This type is also easier to clean.
