What people tend to forget is in order for you to have a two post lift you need a minimum concrete slab depth of 6 inches and massive holes drilled in your floor to bolt it down for 90 percent of guys needing the lift for storage 4 post lifts are way more all around safe and usable. Bendpaks compressor system tho is super ancient hydraulic with manual lock positions is the only way. Two post lifts are great for doing brakes and control arms thats about it. Otherwise four post lifts are way easier to move do transmission exhaust oil changes driveshafts inspecting stuff. they do not required to be bolted down and you can store 2 cars safely. Drip trays and I have seen numerous guys install upward lights on the rails do you have light underneath to see. 2 posts are dangerous if you don't balance it properly.

WARNING!! Do not use hockey puck type spacers, I used this method and almost dropped a truck off my lift!! The reason for the unsafe condition is these type spacers "hockey puck " spacer blocks are not anchored "fixed" to the jack. Under the right conditions they can come flying out without notice! You NEVER want a spacer not fixed between you jack and the car.

Nice video Chuck ....It's a sweet set up. I wish I could afford this setup as BendPak makes great stuff (Safe stuff ) . A buddy of mine had this setup and I have had the pleasure of using it many times until his divorce . You seem like a nice guy and money is still an obstacle for you when it comes to making these purchases . So a couple issues that I've seen that will effect the safety and longevity of your lift and Jack ....You have the RBJ4500 installed facing the wrong direction for your setup. The foot pedal and hydraulics should be facing the rear of your garage and the rear cross tube , the air hose should be draped across the back horizontal cross tube/bar (It avoids ever being driven on and unneeded stress on the lines and connections ) turning it around is no easy task . The biggest issue is the placement of the car ( and the car it's self ) You need to make sure every time you put a car on that lift it is centered front to back and when Jacking the car up while on the 4 post lift....Your lift is roughly 13.5 feet long, you can't use that scissor jack the RBJ4500 or any jack on that 4 post lift further than 4.5 feet from any of your support poles and that number is for cars with wheelbases of 115' inches, with your STi and Forester that number is much shorter... roughly 3.5 feet from any support pole and the Porsche 944 it's roughly 2.5 feet .....The weakness in 4 pole systems is the middle of your runners by design and how the lift capacity of the lift is effected by the shorter wheelbases of vehicles ... you bend one of those runners and the lift is toast and dangerous. The Porsche is like the smallest car I would work on on that lift at a wheel base of like 93 inches. At a wheel base of 93 inches your 9000 LB lift turns into roughly a 4800 lb lift (2400 lbs per axle ) now when you use the scissor jack on the lift you could lift 2400 LBS per axle of the Porsche if it weighed 4800 LBS (It Doesn't) but only if the wheels were at the support posts but they are not because the Porsche wheelbase is so much shorter and it needs to be centered. ....Bottom Line, The maximum amount of weight that can be lifted by that RBJ4500 at 2.5 ft away from center of your 4 post lift (4 to 5 ft of runners (Middle)are unusable area for your cars ) would equal 25% of the RBJ4500 lift capacity of 4500LBs would be 1250 LBs , 3.5 ft from center 2250 Lbs , 4.5 ft from center 3375 Lbs and 5.5 ft the full 4500 Lbs ....Do yourself a favor and use some yellow tape on the runners and mark off the center 4ft as totally unusable and always lift as close to the poles as possible . You can easily damage that lift using the RBJ4500 too close to center . You can work worry free with an adjustable jack post set dead center of the runners on each side of the lift and use the RBJ4500 worry free at any area of the runners for like $100 for the pair .

What are the safety precautions taken to prevent injury due to sudden failure of the (i) rolling jack lift or (ii) the main platform lift itself on which the car is lifted?
@atodaso16682 жыл бұрын
They both have lock outs
@greatguy40762 жыл бұрын
Be careful where you put that bridge jack. They are meant to be used at the *ends* of the lift. By using near the center like that, it creates considerable stress on the platforms. The lift is rated for less than 25% capacity when you have a short wheelbase - and that's when the weight of the car is supported at two points. Loading the center of the lift at one point is dangerous. Of course that's a lighter car on a 9K lift, but still... be safe.
