I head to Motech Performance to get a much needed Remus exhaust fitted to my BMW M2 Competition. Considering the unit is only an axle back system, it has made a world of difference to the sound and looks of my beloved M2 Competition.

Finally, the ‘Comp finds its voice 👍🏾 my car is the same way as yours was at the start of the video. I have a 230i and I quite like the sound of the B48, it’s no straight six but it’s reminiscent of the cool 4 cyl BMW motors that came before it and much nicer than the N20 but I struggle to hear it, particularly past 70mph as I have run flats (which I plan to change). I think a dual resonator delete will solve the problem. If you’d ever like to do a comparison video between your car and a fast, manual 2 series that doesn’t have 6 cylinders then I let me know.

Hi Joe On the back of you I’ve pushed the boat out and bought a new M2C in sunset orange. I’ve already ordered lowering spring and spacers for a specialist in Aberdeen and really fancy the lower note of the Remus race exhaust. What’s the cost of that system if you don’t mind me asking? I want a change of exhaust for my M2C. The BMW M Performance is quite pricey, based on my dealers quotation, but should keep the warranty good. I like Remus exhaust I've tried on motorcycles; they're a solid company. But out of interest, why did you go for Remus over M-Performance?

Always a grey area in terms of warranty mate, best to ask Motech or whoever is supplying the exhaust 👌

I suspect it hangs so low as an aerodynamic aid,. Looks like the back box is designed to stop parachuting of the back bumper.

I don't know but to me, the sound of this motor is just terrible...it either sounds like a broken hoover and then when you do too much with taking the cats off it will sound like an aluminium can with a hole in it.

While it sounds much improved. It's still a bandaid fix to a bigger problem - the engine just doesn't sound spine tingling in the way the old NA engines did (crackle 'n' pops aside). Mercedes did a good job with their turbo engine (ok, it has 2 extra cylinders). The sound/ noise is such a big part of the experience in these type of cars, that once you're use to the added performance the turbos bring, it feels like somethings missing. Maybe the new engine they have lined up for the next M2/3/4 will address this... here's hoping.

You need to listen to their V8 turbo (which is the engine referenced would be with an extra 2 cylinders), as that does sound good. It's in their C63 & E63 cars.

I’ve got an RS3 fl and sounds mega, but supposedly the new cars coming through will have this also. R8 has it too. All cars will be “Tesla’s” going forward. Ridiculous

The S55 has never sounded amazing, certainly never be a RS3, all I wanted was a bit more volume with a deeper note and this solved that, also the external athletics have been improved ten fold ✌️

I don't know why people are going crazy over the sound of this car. This engine will always sound crap regardless of the exhaust, it sounded crap when the M3/M4 was first released and hasn't improved. The M235i sounded far better and had a proper deep sporty tone compared to the tin can rattle of the M2 comp & M3/M4.

I've had a decatted Fi exhaust fitted and it sounds like nothing else. Remus is the more sensible way, Fi is savagery to the max. And the best part is, with the valves closed, it is quieter than stock!

So BMW .. expect for a M2 M4 .. around 60k but there factory exaust's are pure shite ... and then you have to spend at least 15 hundred's to turn into a comp M ... bmw ridiculness

In 2018 the European government introduced OPF and noise restriction filters which killed engine and exhaust sounds. It gets talked about as much as COVID 19, I'm very surprised you're not aware of it.

Sorry to sound like a negative Nancy but I really dislike the S55 sound. The N55 is so much nicer, so much infact I wouldn't buy the M2C just because of how it sounds, even with and aftermarket exhaust. Alternatives, would be B58/S58 going forward but the S55 is a big thumbs down

I’m in the US without OPF and my M2 comp sounds louder and better stock than the UK spec, to the point that I don’t feel the urge to replace the exhaust. Given the size of these OPF boxes it makes sense there would be such a difference.
