Great reaction I subscribed. I am like you about listening to music. I always just give it a listen or even two before I look at lyrics or anything else. Ren is amazing. I have been listening to his stuff for over a year and I am about 100 songs down the catalog and not one bad song. There are other things like this but just to kinda switch it up maybe listen to Genesis the official video first and then the Live if you like it. Every song is so different and you just never know what he will give you on a track. His last album went #1 in the UK on release and he just won three or four awards at the London Music Awards completely independent to boot.

Great reaction! Ren is without a doubt a genius...Multi-instrumentalist, writer, plays the most diverse styles, unique narrator; in short, an artist passionate about music and creativity. There are some fun songs, others very deep; but it never disappoints. If you want to know more about Ren, his multiple interviews and chapters make it quite clear. He was misdiagnosed with a disease and it has been a long and tortuous road; he recently moved to Canada to avoid an imminent death and there they performed a cell transplant on him. He reflects every part of his life with all rawness. And when you have spent time watching and listening to his countless songs (He is very prolific) you realize that the person and the character is He himself. He doesn't lie. He also stands out above all for his humility. Thanks for your reaction.

Why hello there voyager of a rabbit hole. Ren covers so many genres (and his own personal one) I think you should explore a bit before delving deep. Animal Flow would be interesting (he makes his own beats and it’s another cinematic, um, piece of uniqueness) Also his live shows busking with the group The Big Push. Covers/remixes and smash ups. I’m not a Christian. And I have beef with most so-call Christians, who try to pick and choose the parts of the Bible that support what they want instead of what God want. And I grew up in the Bible. Let, so I got to meet the worst fakers around. And every once in a while, I’ll see real Christians who live their faith. And it seems to me, Ren is one of those. His faith certainly helped him through the last decade. And he invites you to join him, but never TELLS to to join. That makes all the difference.

Oh dude, the subtitles on this are shit. It’s just the auto-generated subtitles, but he’s got an accent and the voice recognition apparently can only do American. For like a whole minute, when he’s just singing notes, they already have the text from the first line… except they got some of THAT wrong too.

There are a couple word choices he makes that I think don’t get the attention they should. He says the people who find his music respect it, and that gives him a purpose he can rest in. Rest is “Eternal rest” not just sleep. He’s saying (and he repeats later) that he will live on through his music. The Shadow says Ren is trying to be the next Jimi Hendrix. Jimi was one of the celebrities who died suddenly deaths at 27, along with… it’s like 20 famous people, mostly in the 60s, but Kurt Cobain is on the list. Ren was 27 when he wrote this, though he was 28 when he re order the video, and he’s 30 now. He got Lyme disease. Doctors misdiagnosed it. It’s an autoimmune disease transferred by ticks. And it literally was his own immune system attacking other parts of him. For a decade. He couldn’t walk for a while, which is why he starts the video in the wheelchair. But also, it destroyed parts of his brain. He didn’t have mental health problems in the beginning, but now he actually has schizophrenia. He hears that voice. A lot of commenters suggest he’s got multiple personalities. But they’re two VERY different things. DID (new name for MPD) the other personality is created because of some trauma. Movies like to show it as the hidden personality pops up to do evil. But the mind creates these fake other people because whatever trauma is happening, the “real” identity can’t handle it, so the mind makes someone else so the new person can take the hits for you. The other identities are 100% trying to help, though often their idea of “help” is not what you’d want. And more importantly, that other identity takes over. Maybe the real identity is asleep, or just watching the trauma, but he’s not in control of the body. Ren has schizophrenia. Ren is always in charge, he just hears the voice telling him he sucks. In the last bit, where he proper sings, he says “I stood in the fire that cremated my brain, and didn’t once scream or shake.” That’s what he’s talking about. But without a doubt, the moment I anticipate, every time I watch this video, is that the first time he sings, instead of rapping, he’s singing about him singing. “So cower at the man I become, when I sing from the top of my lungs”. He speaks a prophecy, and then makes it come true. He talks about killing the Shadow through killing himself, then he talks about the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope. I don’t know Ren personally, so I can’t tell if there was a moment where the noose was around his neck and he backed down. And heard the voice of Hope. Even though he made the right call from my point of view… he has reasons for putting the rope on. We like to say only crazy people would do that… but if the pain is bad enough… A few years ago, there was a tidal wave that his Japan, and borked a reactor, so it was going to e plods. And to a man, all of the older engineers volunteered to go in, with suits, to try to fix it. They said they had already lived lives they are proud of. The young engineers had more living left to do, families to support and raise. One man got exposed to a lethal dose of radiation. I think it took him 60 days to die. I’ll spare you the detains, but it was just about the worst way I can imagine dying. The last part, after his skin just fell off, they kept him sedated. And I think we do them a disservice by saying “No, they’re just off in the head”.
