If Lev Yashín was recognized for his ability to anticipate and cut plays, René Higuita takes that ability to the extreme. He also adds control, ball driving and field vision, he looks like a libero. Higuita was not a clown, he was a professional and he knew what he was doing.

Higuita is a legend! Many people remember only his fault at World Cup 1990 or the amazing scorpion defence in 1995, but he was a very good goalkeeper, having great performances, specially at Libertadores 1989 and 1995.

In this life, there is a reason for everything. He is a good goal keeper, probably the best. Some see him as an entertainer, because of his tactics(methodology), after watching this, I can truthfully say that he doesn't have the ability to grab the balls accurately, but does better in keeping it away from the post. That is why he plays it away from the danger zone, without trying to grab. He'd be a great striker if you ask me.
