I have since seen him live many times and it's wonderful that everyone else is finally waking up to his eclectic talents. There are many of his rap performances on KZbin but I also suggest Chalk Outlines (live) to hear his beautiful singing voice and then carry on down the Ren rabbit hole. So here is a little back story: Ren had medical issues with pain to the point where he was bedbound for a good 23 hours a day. The doctors were sure it was all in his head and that he was mentally ill. He was given heavy medication for said issues, which made everything worse. Turned out he contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite. As a result of misdiagnosis, he developed PTSD and brain damage from Lyme disease. He is currently undergoing daily treatment in Canada, plus surgery is coming up too. His pain and frustration is his motor and vent. Amazing artist with a vast back catalog worth diving into 🖤🖤🖤

It's kinda funny you were introduced to Ren via his retake of Fisher's beat. For rap, I like his "Illest of Our Time", "Genesis" or his Beastie Boys homage "What You Want". However, my three favorites of his right now are "Power" & the musical collaborations ft. Eden Nash "Ocean" and "Humble". Except for his retakes, he produces his own beats, plays most of the instruments, and does the singing/rapping/beat boxing. He's crazy talented.

got my sub when you said what i've been saying since the first time i hear Ren: he is ADHD proof. and yes, he is ALSO ADHD, so OF COURSE he's going to keep things moving. if he's going to keep US engaged he has to keep himself engaged. outstanding react, thanks. nice to see Ren can turn people's days/moods around. and his wordplay is WILD. his lyrical skills are next level, and yes, he does VERY serious stuff. for instance, Money Game 1 and 2 (politics), Hi Ren (of course--mental health in a big way, as well as the imposter syndrome that almost EVERY artist goes up against--the self doubt, etc.). there's so much more, too, so many wild and then there's the more tuneful stuff--yes, he rap-raps and he sing-sings, plays-plays (guitar, bass, piano, more), beats-beats (makes all his own), and he writes-writes (check and the Tale of Jenny & Screech--Shakesperean tragedy circa 2019). and many of his best videos are recorded LIVE. last thing: people throw the G-word around too easily these days (no, not gangsta...GENIUS). but he fits it for me. he does it all, in half a dozen styles/genres of music. he KNOWS his musical history, from Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Eminem, TechNine, White Stripes/the Hives, i could go on, but he also knows his literature (he references so much, from George Orwell and Aldous Huxley to Shakespeare) and movies (love his some Stanley Kubrick, Tarantino, etc.). this is WHY he's ADHD-proof, as you've put it.

The only reason this track has the copyright disclaimer is it’s not his original beat. It’s what he calls a ‘retake’, where he’s rapping over a cover. Another recent one like that is ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’. ‘Hi Ren’ is the astonishing work of art that has recently put Ren out into the world in a big way but I think my personal favourite is ‘How to be Me (live)’ with Chinchilla.
