I loved the Dr. Dre sample - it's a great example of what can be done when performing rap live with instruments - Oh, and it's the lick from "The Next Episode" Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - and a perfect choice when performing in L.A., being a nod to the West Coast rappers. This reminds me of when Jay Z did MTV unplugged with The Roots as the live band - and some of the best parts were when they did various "samples" of other tracks / artists even.

he often mashed songs up while busking too, solo and with the big push and other collaborators, seems like a continuation of that sorta thing, i wonder if any of the riffs in animal flow acoustic were nods to other songs, if so they would probably be less iconic songs since i don't think anyone recognized any yet, love music part 2 dropped in the bond theme and that worked great too, and was it part 3 that had a rage against the machineish bit?

Tidbits from barrington levy's "murderer", damian marleys "welcome to jamrock" and dr.dre's "the next episode" and ini kamozes "world a music (out in the streets they call it merther)" that is a sample on welcome to jamrock in there. Filmed in Los Angeles 3 days ago. Fun fact: "Merther" is basically the term for listening to reggae while smoking weed. The "merging" of it.

I recently learned that Murderer was actually written and recorded well before “Hi Ren.” Marty DeHart (@Parula06) explained that the original video was shot in Brighton in the Spring of 2022. The new live acoustic version of “Murderer” is incredible and my favorite of the two. The LA skyline at dusk looks beautiful. Marty DeHart (@Parula06) shared that the live acoustic performance was shot in LA a couple of days before its release. The song, apart from the original melody and lyrics, also gives a nod to Barrington Levy’s "Murderer," Damian Marley’s "Welcome to Jamrock," Dr.Dre's "The Next Episode," and Ini Kamoze’s "World A Music,” with some Sublime vibes in the mix, yet, the song is unmistakably a Ren original. Black Pegasus (@BlackPegasusRaps) was the first to point out that the verse “out in the streets they call it murder” is originally from an Ini Kamoze song, “World A Music,” released in 1983, and that the line was made famous when Damian Marley sang it on “Welcome to Jamrock.” Hexenkind1 (@Hexenkind1) explained that it is actually “out in the streets they call it merther” in the original.
