I'm 57. Never really listened to rap; Ren has opened that world to me. I miss a lot of bars first time. But I found it interesting that when US Rappers react to UK rap - even as a wild example Pete & Bas - they pick up bars quicker than me despite the accent (And I'm a Londoner! ). Because they are familiar with the language of Rap - cadences , flow and rhyme schemes etc. and are used to the speed. The only advantage I have is UK slang and references!

Me too and the fact that so many young people don't read so much literature and have or use such a small vocabulary in their descriptions. Rap but specifically Ren and his works could really make poetry cool again

Appreciate your reaction and your support of Ren. My absolute favorite artist now. IMO, things have been going off the rails in the USA for a *whole* lot longer than the last 3 years. I'm older and have lived through more, gives a different perspective maybe. Bad times foreshadowed in the 70s, really started visibly going downhill in the 80s.

Idk if it will be your style of rap but "Grateful" by Flawdzilla is super impressive, even if you don't connect to the message. You might have a problem with Christian iconography but it's like "Hi Ren" where the artist is tuning into this doubt and hope concept. It hit me pretty hard, especially after listening to "Hi Ren" multiple times beforehand. Flawd has struggled with drug addiction and went to jail for a time. He took a 6 year break from writing anything musically. He broke his silence 10 days ago when he suddenly got inspired to write this song. He got right back on that bike and it was a rocket ship. He is amazingly talented with lyrics and schemes even after all this time.
