The reason it wasn’t released as a single leading up to the album was that it was one of the songs he recorded just prior to the album release. The rest of the album was all written two years prior to its release, this one was special to him, and he put a lot into it. It really showcases where his writing is at this current moment. Obviously everything he writes is pure genius, but this song really shows off the fact that he has improved so much over the years.
