Actually I think it’s based on the British National Anthem. At the time this episode takes place (mid 1800s), England owned Canada so it’s parodying England’s theme. I know it was a joke but I just wanted to add a bit of context to it.

@@zombies4evadude24 It's a parody of the song America (aka My Country, Tis of Thee), which was used as an American Anthem before the Star Spangled Banner and is still taught in American schools. The song was actually written to the melody of God Save the Queen (the British Anthem you mentioned) by accident. The writer had been given some German songs to write new lyrics to and one of them used the melody to God Save the Queen. Most people here in America have no idea about the British origins of the melody, but we love to make jokes about Canada our neighbor to the North (Ren and Stimpy was full of them) and making parodies of our patriotic songs and giving them a Canadian theme is a popular one.

Bob Jaques said Mike Fontanelli laid out most of this cartoon at Spümcø, and that at Games, Chris Reccardi discarded most of it, and drew most of the layouts anew. Reccardi said he wasn't really the director of this cartoon (and I can understand why), but I can understand why Jim Ballantine and Vanessa Coffey thought he deserved it. He could've just quickly finished up the remainder of layouts, but he had control of what drawings we'd see on the screen. RIP

Man I miss having my own Sky Box and had Nicktoons and they'd air Ren and Stimpy late at night and round the time, I had created my Ren and Stimpy group on Facebook, this was round 2012 so I was just like, getting into Ren and Stimpy after missing out. It's incredible how huge the group is now, but this song playing followed by a commercial break was truly something magical, the moment the song continues and the whole orchestra and singing kicks in, it's absolutely brilliant.
