I think it's about being medicated, which often makes people feel hollow and detached from life and experience. Chinchilla mentions serotonin and sertraline which are both used to treat depression and anxiety disorders, but their side-effects can be bad and includes the feeling of being empty and just existing from day to day - which is what Ren is describing when he says "walk around in a floating chalk outline".

Chinchilla drops the term Sertraline which is the generic of Zoloft used for supposed depression/anxiety that is being handed out like candy to all of society. My take is they are talking about psychiatric drugs which are making them feel dead inside, thus the chalk outline. It also hits on using other things, I am assuming alcohol/drugs to just feel something because the pharmaceutical drugs do nothing but dull them. Love the reaction!

She was a supporting act on Sting's 2019 European Arena tour and the opening act for the 2021 McFly tour. Chinchilla has also played some big European music festivals. Chalk outlines for me, is what is left of yourself when taking antidepressant medication, it numbs you and takes away all emotion, it steals who you are, and in effect you trace a chalk outline around yourself, and the line "erase yourself in a chalk outline" is the erasing of ones self on anti-depressant medication. but its also multi-layered with chalk outlines that police draw around dead bodies at crime scenes. Ren is so intelligent in his writing and story telling, he's a 'bard arse'

I read that he wrote this because he felt deadened by the meds to the point he was losing his soul. This song is so deep…. And you guys went deep too!
