I’ve worked as a sweep for over 30 years. Many times on tall fireboxes like this I have to install lentil extensions to lower the front down. Sometimes this problem only arises when low pressure zones are prevalent. As I have always understood it, the flue diameter/size should be 1/10 the size of the fireplace opening. My first impression of your fireplace is that the height is too great, even if most of the time it may draw fine, there might be days with low pressure that would have the smoke billowing out. What I appreciate of your design is the glass that will lower down in front, I am sure that even on such days the fireplace would still draw well with the door closed. My question is, can the screen be deployed all the way down and the glass be deployed partially down, in effect making its own lentil extension? I am also curious if there is a flue damper at the throat of the flue or does this rely on just the glass door to keep home heat from funneling up when not in use? Overall this really looks like a very excellent fireplace!

Thanks Emily! Anything is possible, but we do not currently have retailers or distributors in Australia. We have had customers pay for shipping overseas at their own expense though. Please email us at technical@icc-rsf.com if you are interested.

After coming in through the external air duct, where does the air enter into the fireplace? Are there gaps in the bottom?
@Real_Tim_S3 жыл бұрын
Around the sides and top edge of the fire box refractory there is about a 1/4" (6mm) gap behind the glass. Intake air comes in from the back of the fire box and around the refractory wall to keep the soot of the glass, pushing the fire back and up the fire box.

How much heat can you expect to generate into the room ? is it practical to expect this fireplace to gnerate heat like a wood stove ?
@ICCRSF7 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank - Renaissance Fireplaces create a good amount of heat, but are not as efficient as wood stoves. If you are hoping to heat your home with a wood fireplace, then we recommend looking at the RSF Fireplace line of products: rsf-fireplaces.com/ RSF models are efficient like wood stoves and can heat up to 3,000 square feet. Renaissance models are primarily decorative.
